I’m grateful to have an article included in the latest Virginia Music Teachers Association State Newsletter on safe studio practices and the importance of creating warm, nurturing, inclusive, and transparent learning environments for children.

While it was written with music teachers in mind, I think many of the ideas may be helpful for parents, educators, and anyone who cares about the spaces where children learn and grow. At the heart of the article is a simple belief: every child deserves to feel safe, respected, welcomed, and supported—and teachers are better able to do meaningful work when trust and clarity are built into the environment.

The article begins on page 19 for anyone who would like to read. As a little nudge for any Virginia teachers, this regular newsletter is generally part of our membership package-- :)

Conversations at the piano bench with littles is one of my favorite parts of my week. This one made me laugh (and feel pretty blessed).

The VMTA State Conference was a huge success! In part due to the help of one of our original LEMS Alumni! Thank you Catherine for the generosity of your time and presence!

Teaching sound qualities with nuance. Love seeing how different students sort the magnet words I give them.
