Our Meet the Secretariat series continues with Executive Parliamentarian Öykü Ercan! This is her first year in MASUN, and then her spare time, she enjoys reading, spending time with friends and keeping up with international news. As a student who is studying government, she has to foremost foreign policy interests: gender equality and immigration policies. Additionally, she is passionate about learning new languages and is currently learning her fourth as she wishes to become a polyglot. “Meeting with people from different countries and backgrounds, and creating connections as much as I can matters to me so I can able to communicate with them in their native language”, she adds.

The next member of our Secretariat is Tristin McCreight! Tristin is a junior studying Government and International Politics who plans to double minor in Photography and Data Analytics. This is Tristin’s first year of Model UN and she is super excited to be serving as MASUN 33 deputy director of media presence aka photographer. In her free time time Tristin enjoys photography, hiking, reading, and spending time with friends.

Our Meet the Secretariat series continues with our Director of Media Presence, Ian Gates! Ian is a is a Senior majoring in Public Administration who looks forward to serving as the Director of Media Presence for MASUN 33. He’s been in Model UN for 6 years including high school, and this is his fourth year in the club at Mason. He just finished an internship on Capitol Hill for Congressman Tom O’Halleran of Arizona’s First Congressional District; now he’s a Government Relations Intern at the American Association of Port Authorities! When he’s not trying to change the world, you can expect to see Ian pursuing his passion for photography (his work is featured in GMU’s literary magazine), listening to music or debating the state of the music industry, and trying new foods. After graduation, Ian will either work in the nonprofit sector, continue to work in government relations, or return to Capitol Hill as a Legislative Correspondent

Our Meet the Secretariat series continues with one of our Deputy Directors, Jamie! Jamie Doyle is a Senior at George Mason University studying Statistics and Intelligence Studies. This is his first year participating in Model United Nations and he is excited to use his newfound passion to support MASUN 33 as Deputy Director-General. Outside of his studies, Jamie works as the Data & Assessment Assistant for George Mason University’s Student Centers and as an IT intern. In his free time, Jamie enjoys hiking, trying new foods, keeping up with current events, and scouring the internet for dad jokes! After graduation, he plans to transition his internship to a job with the hopes of one day transitioning to work in the Intelligence Community.

The Meet the Secretariat series continues with one of our Deputy Director Generals, Anjali Nagiri! Anjali Nagiri is a Sophomore at Mason studying finance and anthropology. She is serving as the Deputy Director-General for MASUN 33 and is also crisis directing Alexander the Great: Council of the Diadochi. In addition, she is also the Treasurer of Mason’s Model United Nations, the PR and Social Media Manager of the Mason Anthropology Club, and a college radio co-host. She also works for George Mason University Office of International Programs and Services where she helps coordinate visa and immigration compliance for the school’s international population. This is her second year at MASUN 33. In her spare time, Anjali enjoys reading, spending time with her friends, and going on adventures around Fairfax and Washington

Our Meet the Secretariat series continues with our Director-General, Remmy! Remmy Salinas Calderon is a Senior majoring in Government and International Politics. This is his second year participating in MASUN, and his first time being Director-General. Remmy is also Secretary for George Mason University’s Model UN club and Social Media chair for Students Helping Honduras. When he’s not working on MASUN or Executive Board responsibilities, he’s playing guitar, watching films, planning trips, and looking ahead towards his post-grad goals, which include involvement in government and nonprofit work.

When he’s not doing that, one can catch him watching a Marvel or Star Wars TV show, chatting with friends, reading the news, or ordering at Starbucks. Ryan is looking forward to meeting everyone and creating an engaging conference!
