🙋🏻‍♀️ 🎪 Maker Faire NoVa is BACK!! Our last Maker Faire was in 2018, so many of you may not know why its return is so exciting or why/how you can get involved! The #1 question: What is a Maker Faire? Well, it is an incredible festival celebrating all things made, from paper to fiber to wood to metal, baked to nailed to welded to hammered. Makers from all over will show off what they do, and how they do it with plenty of hands-on experiments for all ages.

Question #2: How big is it? In 2018, we had nearly 6,000 attendees with 160 makers and performers over 90,000 square feet. In 2024 we expect 7,000 attendees 160 makers and performers over 120,000 square feet… almost 3 acres.

Question #3: How does it benefit Nova Labs? This will help us acquire new tools, continue to enhance the facility, and most importantly bring in new members with varying skills and backgrounds for us each to benefit from. It is our largest marketing, fundraising, and member recruitment event.

Question #4: When and where is it? On Sunday, June 9th from 10 AM to 4 PM at the Alexandria City High School (7th Annual Maker Faire NoVa).

Question #5: How can I help? We need a lot of makers to show off what they do. This is big and small, anything you have made can be displayed… for free. Have an idea for a hands-on demo? Fantastic! Want to sell your wares? We have a limited number of spots available for a fee. Spread the word, help get the message out! Sign up at https://nova.makerfaire.com, we’re waiting on YOU! Feel free to participate in our Maker Info sessions coming up this Wednesday at 12 PM and next Monday at 7 PM at Nova Labs in Fairfax!***

A wonderful testimonial from the incredibly talented Vicky Somma and TGAW 3D: "I. LOVE. Maker Faire NoVa! It is invigorating and inspiring...and in 2015, a totally intimidating idea to Past Vicky! But, it was a Maker Info Session like these that helped nudge me to feel just comfortable enough to put in an application for my very first Maker Faire. It was trajectory-changing for my brand new hobby (and introduced me to so many great minds and friends). I didn't even own a 3D Printer at the time! One thing that resonated with me at that info session long ago was when they said "We want makers at *all* levels, not just the experts" If it is even just a fleeting thought in your mind to share your creations, ideas, or processes, I encourage you to attend one of these sessions. And if there is anything I can do to make you feel more invited and welcome, let me know!"

Sponsored by Nova Labs and The City of Alexandria Office of The Arts, Maker Faire NoVa brings together an amazing collection of MAKERS LIKE YOU.... tech enthusiasts, engineers, woodworkers, metal workers, auto hackers, artists, teachers, and craftspeople from all over the Northern Virginia, Metro DC area and beyond!

Maker Faire NoVa gives MAKERS LIKE YOU a chance to show us and tell us about what you are making.
