Early Identification Program

Comments

For more than a decade we've partnered with George Mason University to support first generation college students through the Early Identification Program (EIP). Today we celebrate our 2020 Early Identification Program Grads! Their story in today's ACPS Express: https://bit.ly/2XW8mwO
Today, we're honoring the work of local organizations closing excellence gaps in Northern Virginia. Over a half-million dollars in grants will allow more than 1,400 students to participate in academic enrichment programs, pursue college access initiatives, and obtain direct scholarships.

This year’s grantees include:

George Mason University's ADVANCE and Early Identification Program

It’s 7:15 a.m. on a Wednesday morning in July and the sun is still rising. Outside T.C. Williams High School, sleepy-eyed students are gathering to take a bus heading the 16 miles to George Mason University at an hour when most of their peers are still asleep.

These students have made a commitment to the Early Identification Program, a year-round partnership designed to help prepare middle and high school students become the first in their families to attend college in the US. Follow them on their journey.

Linda Chilin, who came to the U.S. from El Salvador, is one of a few students to begin their relationship with the university through its Early Identification Program (EIP) and continue into a Ph.D. program. Find out more about her story and what she hopes to do in the future >> http://fal.cn/sB7P
Huge congrats to our George Mason University Early Identification Program grads, Tatiana, Mercy, Kokebe, and Jadah! EIP is a program designed to help potential first-generation college-goers on their journey through high school and into college.

Sometimes it’s nice to stop, look back and smile at yourself❤️
A few years ago I got to perform for the amazing students of George Mason University Early Identification Program. They were a most excited, inspired and appreciative audience. Facebook reminded me of it today. It came as a beautiful reminder of the places I’ve been, people I’ve inspired, goals I’ve accomplished. It’s nice to think about those sometimes🙂
We're excited for our new First Generation LLC "The First" for Fall 2018!

Inspiring Excellence Through Education EIP work closely with public school division partners in the nomination, selection, and support of students each year.

Established in 1987, Early Identification Program (EIP) serves as the college preparatory program of George Mason University. With over 1,000 students who have graduated from the program, EIP provides access to educational resources for middle and high school students who will be the first in their families to attend a college or university. 600 students are currently enrolled in EIP due to our strategic partnership with seven local public school systems in Northern Virginia.

We’re proudly celebrating International Day of Women and Girls in Science!

Fun fact: did you know that close to 60% of EIP STEM Fusion participants are young women? At EIP, we’re happy to provide resources and learning opportunities for many high school students, including women, who have an interest in STEM!

There are so many fun subjects we teach through our events, lectures, and activities. In EIP, you can get first-hand experience with STEM activities, mentoring, and other academic supports. List a subject or activity you would like to see more of at EIP?

12/14/2021

We know how important going to college is. It can increase your chances of landing a higher paying job, help you make lifelong connections, and prepare you for the real-world. But we’d like to hear your thoughts on what college means to you as a EIP student, EIP alumnus, and First-Generation College Student. What does college mean to you?

Photos from Early Identification Program's post 12/09/2021

Here’s an EIP throwback: our STEM Fusion Expo in 2017. EIP students had a chance to visit booths of different STEM companies and learn more about what it takes to get real-world experience. Activities included robots, flight simulations and lectures from leaders throughout the STEM industry. When you join EIP, you’ll have the opportunity to be exposed to different areas of STEM (and have fun doing it!).
