Congratulations to our senior design team winning an award (4th place) at JHU and UMD's Mid-Atlantic Research Day sponsored by Astra Zeneca. Their team was tasked to create a diagnostic tool for Paradoxical Vocal Cord Dysfunction (PVCD) by their clients at Children’s National Hospital. The team created an In-field Diagnostic Tool for Paradoxical Vocal Cord Dysfunction and competed with research from other schools namely JHU, UMD and others.

Congratulations to two of our bioengineering Senior Design Teams who each won an award at the CEC Undergraduate Research Celebration this week. Team Mini Bento was awarded “Most Outstanding Project”. Their project was one of 5 that received this award with their Myoelectric Prosthetic Arm Simulator as a Research Platform and Outreach Tool (Students: Mohammed Bhuiyan, Khalid Assamawy, Arvin Zapanta, and Akhil Srirama). Team SAR was one of two projects that were invited to present at the CEC Advisory Board with their Smart Autonomous Rollator (Students; Grace Kim, Miranda Romano, Medhini Sosale, and Rachel Wilson).

The Ignite Student Entrepreneurship Program led by Dr. Rémi Veneziano, Bioengineering at Mason, Stephanie Kane, and James Casey from Virginia Serious Game Institute - VSGI, in collaboration with Prince William County Department of Economic Development, is open to all students at George Mason University. This program is an opportunity to develop entrepreneurial skills, such as pitching and basic IP knowledge. The winners of the pitch contest obtain funding for the development of prototypes or the generation of preliminary data for the summer of 2023.
