When Grief Pulls You Away…

Here's Your Next Step 💛

STEP 3: CHOOSE

After you've Named what you're feeling…

and Noticed the present moment…

there's one gentle question to ask:

"Where would I like to place my attention next?"

You're not choosing between grief and living.

You're choosing what needs your attention in this moment.

The grief can come with you while you gently return to the life unfolding in front of you.

This is Step 3: Choose in the Name. Notice. Choose tool.

When Grief Pulls You Into the Past… Try This 💛

STEP 2: NOTICE

When grief pulls your attention into yesterday, pause for just a moment.

Notice something you can see.

Something you can hear.

Something you can feel.

You're not trying to leave your grief behind.

You're gently returning your attention to the life that's happening right now.

This is Step 2: Notice in the Name. Notice. Choose tool.

When Grief Catches You Off Guard, Start Here 💛

A memory. A song. A familiar face.

Sometimes grief can surface when you least expect it.

So what can you do in that moment?

Start with one simple step:

NAME IT.

Pause and acknowledge what’s happening. A feeling or memory has surfaced.

You aren’t trying to make the feeling disappear. You’re simply recognizing what is happening in the moment.

This is the first step in my Name • Notice • Choose approach—three simple steps to help you gently find your way back when grief catches you by surprise.

💛 Have you ever had grief catch you completely off guard?

When Grief Catches You Off Guard, Remember These 3 Words 💛

Grief can surface when we least expect it.

A memory.
A familiar face.
A song.
A moment that suddenly takes us somewhere we weren’t prepared to go.

So what can we do when that happens?

I use three simple words:

NAME. NOTICE. CHOOSE.

1. Name what is happening.

2. Notice something around you that brings you back to the present.

3. Choose where you would like to place your attention next.

The grief can still be there while you gently find your way back to the life happening in front of you.

💛 Which of these three words do you think would help you most—Name, Notice, or Choose?

I’d love to hear your answer.

💔 I Never Thought This Would Be One of My Biggest Fears

Losing someone you love changes you in ways you never expect.

But one fear surprised me more than all the others...

"What if I forget them?"

Not their name.

The little things.

The sound of their laugh.

The way they looked at me.

The ordinary moments that made them who they were.

That thought broke my heart all over again.

Then I realized something...

Love isn't measured by how perfectly we remember every detail.

Love lives in the way they've changed us, the love they've left behind, and the person we've become because they were part of our lives.

💛 Can I ask you something?

What's one little thing about someone you love that you'll never forget?

I'd be honored to read your memories.

Grief Triggers Don’t Ask Permission

I was simply watching my granddaughter at swim lessons when something completely unexpected pulled me back into my grief.

For a moment, the past became so powerful that I almost missed the life happening right in front of me.

That experience reminded me of something I think many of us need to hear:

We don’t have to stop grieving to come back to the present.

We can feel the grief, acknowledge it, and gently find our way back to the people and moments that are still here.

💛 Has a grief trigger ever caught you completely by surprise? I'd love to know.

What If Grief Quiets the Noise? 💛

We often think grief only takes things away.

But what if it also quiets the noise long enough for us to finally hear ourselves?

The constant busyness.
The expectations.
The distractions.
The life we've been trying so hard to hold together.

Sometimes, in that unexpected quiet, we begin to notice parts of ourselves we've ignored for years.

Not because grief created them...

But because we finally have the space to see them.

Healing isn't always about getting back to who you were before.

Sometimes it's about discovering who you've been beneath the noise all along.

💛 If the noise became quiet today... what do you think your heart would want you to hear?

A Simple 3-Step Check-In When Grief Changes You 💛

After loss, have you ever wondered…
“Is this my grief… or am I changing?”

When everything feels different, try the Before • Because • Becoming check-in.

Three questions to help you pause and understand what you’re feeling:

BEFORE:
Was this feeling there before my loss?

BECAUSE:
Am I choosing this because I’m grieving… or because I’m discovering something new about myself?

BECOMING:
Who am I becoming after everything I’ve been through?

Grief changes so much about our lives and sometimes it also helps us notice things we never stopped to see.

Give the Before • Because • Becoming check-in a try.

You may be surprised by what you discover about yourself. 💛

I Lost Myself After Loss… Now What? 🤍

There’s something about grief we don’t always talk about.

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t only missing the person we lost…

It’s looking in the mirror and wondering:
“Where did I go?”

After loss, we often try so hard to get back to who we used to be.

But what if healing isn’t about finding the old version of ourselves?

What if it’s about discovering who we are becoming?

A question for you today:

What is one small thing that still makes you feel like YOU?

06/23/2026

I’ve been thinking about something I don’t hear many people talk about…

After a loss, we often say: “I’m not myself anymore.”

And sometimes grief truly has changed us.

But sometimes grief creates a quiet moment where we finally notice things that were already there.

Maybe we were exhausted. Maybe we were always putting ourselves last.

Maybe we had forgotten who we were long before our loss.

A question I’ve been sitting with:
Did grief create this feeling… or did grief finally give me a chance to notice it?

I’d love to know your thoughts.
