During this time of year, you might see family and friends more than usual, you may feel pressure to accomplish something before the year ends, but listen to yourself and go at your own pace.

Why you should define your fears instead of your goals
"The hard choices — what we most fear doing, asking, saying — these are very often exactly what we most need to do."

Why you should define your fears instead of your goals
The hard choices -- what we most fear doing, asking, saying -- are very often exactly what we need to do. How can we overcome self-paralysis and take action? Tim Ferriss encourages us to fully envision and write down our fears in detail, in a simple but powerful exercise he calls "fear-setting." Lea...

Living the Life You Chose | by Carolyn Mooney | LinkedIn
Whose life are you living? Did you choose your path or was your path chosen for you? This past year, many of us took time to reflect on our lives, prioritize what is important, and make changes to get our lives moving in the direction we choose. What have you done to take control back over your life? What can you continue to do to remain in control of the life you are living?

Living the Life You Chose | by Carolyn Mooney | LinkedIn
This is a line from a Jason Isbell song and it really got me thinking. What life am I living? Am I living a life that I chose or the life the chose me? What does that even mean? It means, did I consciously make the decisions that got me where I am today? Have I been living a life that has been on au

Be Exceptional | by Carolyn Mooney | LinkedIn
What do you do when life gets hard? Do you give up, give in, or do you push through and come out stronger on the other side? Not giving in or giving up is hard but is crucial to your growth, whether personal or professional, to push through that which is difficult, become stronger, and more importantly become exceptional.

Be Exceptional | by Carolyn Mooney | LinkedIn
I was reading a book called “The Dip” by Seth Godin. In reading how Godin described “The Dip” I couldn’t help but think of how this concept can apply to our everyday lives.

What do you do when life doesn't work out the way you thought it would? Do you place blame or do you take responsibility on how you can make things better? Placing blame is the easy and wrong thing to do if you want to make life better. Taking responsibility for your actions, your behavior, your attitude means also taking responsibility of your success and happiness. Stop blaming and start owning the life you were given.

The Golden Rule
The saying goes “do unto others as you would have done unto you”, otherwise known as the golden rule. Many of us treat others better than we treat ourselves.

Live the Question
Life is lived in the question. Learn to live in the question until the answer appears. Why lessons do the questions provide?

Live the Question
As you can tell Rainier Maria Rilke has had a big influence on the way that I see and live through life. When reading “Letters to Young Poet” I often feel that he was speaking directly to me.

Trusting In Yourself
In the wise words of Rilke “Always trust in yourself and your own feeling, as opposed to argumentation, discussions, or introductions of that sort; if it turns out that you were wrong, then the natural growth of your inner life will eventually guide you to other insights. Allow your judgments their silent, undisturbed development, which, like all progress, must come from deep within and cannot be forced or hastened.”

Trusting In Yourself
A fourth lesson that I have learned from Ranier Maria Rilke is trusting in oneself and in your own growth. Rilke writes “Always trust in yourself and your own feeling, as opposed to argumentation, discussions, or introductions of that sort; if it turns out that you were wrong, then the natural gro...

Trust in What is Difficult
Many of us look for the easy in life. We are scared of challenge, scared of adversity, scared of difficulty. It is in the difficult that we should seek comfort as it is our compass pointing us in the right direction.

Trust in What is Difficult
Another lesson I have learned from “Letters to a Young Poet” by poet Rainer Maria Rilke is trusting in what is difficult. In the words of Rilke: “Most people have turned their solutions toward what is easy and toward the easiest side of the easy; but it is clear that we must hold to what is di...

Taking Responsibility for Your Own Happiness
Another lesson learned from Rilke’s “Letters to a Young Poet” is being responsible for your own happiness. Rilke explains to Kappos “If your everyday seems poor, do not blame it; blame yourself; admit to yourself that you are not enough of a poet to call forth its riches; because for the cre...

Finding Your Passion
One of my favorite books is “Letters to a Young Poet” by Rainer Maria Rilke. To say this book changed the way I see life is an understatement.

Why We Need to Embrace Failure
Why do we fear failure? Why is failure such an ugly word? I fail every day. I fail when I don’t run as fast or as far as I want.

Courage and Expectations
What is courage and what does it have to do with expectations? Why does it take courage to be the person you were meant to be? Why is courage hard? Learn the answers to these questions and more in this week's discussion around the topic of courage.
Courage and Expectations
What does it mean to have courage? One of my favorite definitions of courage is: “Courage is being yourself everyday in a world that is telling you to be someone else.” Why is it so hard to have this definition of courage? Why is hard to be ourselves and why is the world telling us to be someone...
