🌟 CITY SPOTLIGHT: Gaby Auza & Chris Jacobs 🌟

This week, we’re shining our City Spotlight on the incredible technology team at Daniels Run Elementary School: Gaby Auza, School-Based Technology Specialist, and Chris Jacobs, Technology Support Specialist.

Together, Gaby and Chris do so much more than keep technology running. They keep students, staff and families connected, informed and supported.

Gaby wears countless hats at Daniels Run. From maintaining the Staff Hub and coordinating the Welcome Walk to leading the morning news and managing the enormous responsibility of school testing, she has a remarkable ability to organize the details that keep the school moving. And when something unexpected comes up, she is always ready to jump in and help.

Chris is known for starting with a simple question: “How can I help you?” He brings warmth, patience and a student-centered approach to everything he does. He not only makes sure students have the technology they need, but also takes the time to know them, encourage them and even recruit student tech helpers along the way.

Their nominator summed it up beautifully:

“Gaby and Chris both have a gift for making others feel important and heard, for anticipating needs, and for solving problems. We are a better school because they are with us.”

We couldn’t agree more. Thank you, Gaby and Chris, for everything you do for the Daniels Run community!

TOMORROW, September 17, please join us for our Back to School Night! The open house portion will be from 5:00pm-6:00pm and the Picnic portion will be from 5:00pm-7:00pm. All DRES students will receive FREE Kona Ice! Bring lawn toys and a picnic, or purchase dinner at 2 local Fairfax food trucks: Two Smooth Dudes and Paisano's Pizza.

Daniels Run is so grateful for our crossing guards!

Another school year is underway, and we’re excited to welcome back all five of our amazing crossing guards!

Rain or shine, early mornings or busy afternoons, they’re out there helping our students, families, and neighbors get where they need to go safely. Their dedication and commitment to our community make a difference every single day.

Please join us in giving a big THANK YOU to our crossing guards for keeping an extra set of eyes on our roads and an extra layer of safety around our school crossings.

Fairfax High School Leadership students are bringing their creativity to Daniels Run! Students in grades 1–3 are invited to join the free Paws & Claws Craft Club, an after-school program led by FHS students. The club will meet Thursdays from 3:45–4:45 p.m. on Sept. 17 and 24 and Oct. 1, 8, 15 and 22. Snacks and all craft supplies are included.
