The 2020 Inclusive Excellence Award for Collaboration goes to the UF Women's Student Association in collaboration with the Asian American Student Union (AASU) at UF, the Pride Student Union at the University of Florida, the Hispanic Student Association, the UF Black Student Union, the Black Male Excellence Network, and the Interfraternity Council, for the Redefining Masculinity Panel and Discussion in the Fall of 2019. WSA gathered a diverse panel of students to discuss how masculinity has impacted their lives and how it impacts our society. The panel, comprised of all-male identifying trans and cis people, discussed toxic masculinity, how masculinity has been viewed internationally, sexual harassment and assault in fraternities, masculinity and how masculinity is viewed in the trans community. The event made sure to educate all participants on how to foster healthier forms of masculinity within and beyond their respective communities. As masculinity affects individuals and communities differently, it was important for all the groups to come together and discuss our intersections in society.
Check out these tips! All students staying at home and young professionals please take care, reach out to us if you need anything!
