A group of our students presented their redevelopment projects to Fairfax City Mayor and Council on June 2, 2026. Their mission was to urge councilmembers to make these new areas more eco-friendly!
At this point students have presented to the City Planning Commission, City School Board, property owner of Courthouse Plaza, and finally to Mayor and Council members. All presentations were very well received and students received huge accolade. In addition, all students were officially gifted with a Fairfax City Pin.

Mr. Long’s students are learning about economics by playing the game Power Grid. Power Grid teaches complex, economic principles and strategic management. For their project, the students needed to form multinational energy corporations and increase profits by supplying electricity to the largest network of cities. Players learn to manage fluctuating fuel costs for their power plants (coal, oil, garbage, uranium) and have the opportunity to purchase eco-friendly power plants to serve their customers.

In honor of the Month of the Military Child, KJMS recognizes their incredible strength and resilience. A highlight of the morning was presenting each student with a certificate of recognition to honor their unique experiences and sacrifices. Thank you to all our military families for your continued service and for being such a valued part of our school!

Order in the court! ⚖️ Our Civics students aren’t just reading history - they’re debating it.
They went head-to-head on 1st Amendment protections, tackling the tough balance between free speech and its impact. Using William & Mary policy debate tactics, they defended their arguments in front of a panel of guest judges.
From WICOR strategies to POG traits, these students showed exactly what it means to be a communicator and collaborator.

Thank you so much to Mr. King and the FHS Auto Tech students for inviting a group of our 8th graders to see what the Auto Tech elective class is like! Our students got their hands dirty, taking off tires, putting them back on, filling them to the correct pressure, and checking out the bottom of a car!
