The last Mason COMM Summer intern of the week is-Kathryn Dorre, who is a junior communication major with a minor in marketing. She interned over the summer at Leidos, an industry and technology leader serving government and commercial customers with smarter, more efficient digital and mission innovations. Kathryn worked in communications within the Office of Technology and supported internal communication efforts that helped improve information flow and engagement across the organization. Through this internship, she gained hands-on experience in professional writing, digital communication, and internal branding while applying skills learned in her coursework. Some of Kathryn’s internship tasks included:
• writing and publishing blog posts for internal audiences,
• updating and maintaining internal website pages,
• supporting communication projects within the Office of Technology, and
• assisting with content organization and digital communications updates.
This internship helped Kathryn strengthen her professional communication skills while learning how large organizations manage internal messaging and employee engagement. The experience is also helped her build practical skills in writing, editing, and digital content management that will support her future career in communication and marketing.
