The Dewberry School of Music at George Mason University would like to help all Graduate Music Education Students enrolled in the Summer Music Studies/MM Program at the University of the Arts through this difficult time. We invite you to apply to Mason's Online and Online Hybrid Master of Music Education Degree, where we could accept up to 24 official transfer credits (a minimum of six credits needs to be earned at George Mason University). This is a limited one-time opportunity arranged for graduate music education students who enrolled in the Summer Music Studies/MM program at the University of the Arts.

George Mason University offers a variety of flexible and innovative online options for music educators who are wishing to complete their master’s degree.
No Placement Exams Required for entrance to the degree program.
In state and out of state students pay the same tuition rate.

Applications can be approved as early as this summer!

We’d like to begin introducing you to our incredible planning committee members who have been working for months on making our Voices United 2024 conference happen. First up is Mr. Ocie Banks, our co-chair of marketing and media! He is the man behind all of our graphics and website designs!


Ocie S. Banks is the Director of Choirs at Thomas G. Pullen K-8 Creative & Performing Arts School in Prince George’s County. He previously taught at Samuel Ogle Middle and Rosaryville Elementary, achieving Superior Ratings with his choirs. He serves as a lead curriculum writer for the PGCPS Vocal Music Department. Banks holds a BME from George Mason University and a Master of Music and CAGS in Choral Conducting from Messiah University. He is President-Elect of the Maryland/DC Chapter of ACDA and Recording Secretary of the Maryland Choral Educators Association. Banks also leads OSB Music, LLC, and serves as Executive Pastor of Gifted Church, Inc. He is an active choral and vocal clinician, adjudicator, and guest conductor. Mason Community Arts Academy is hosting a three-day professional development workshop on Performing Arts Educator Well-Being and Artistic Social Emotional Learning.

Dr. Scott Edgar and Rita Gigliotti are collaborating this Summer, July 1, 2, 3 to provide an opportunity to come together to restore our well-being, learn how to maintain a reduced stress day and engage students in practices that will improve focus, artistry, performance and well-being.

Inservice teachers and graduate students can opt to take this workshop for 1 college credit.

The second annual Mason Summer Band Camp 2024 will be held from June 17 to June 21, 2024 at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.

Wind, Brass, and Percussionists from grades 6-12 are invited to spend a week of music-making featuring a Junior High and Senior High Band, opportunities for private lessons with Mason faculty, and THE GREEN MACHINE EXPERIENCE! Students have the option to enroll as a Day Camper or Overnight Residential Camper!
