Winston Churchill recited ๐๐ฐ๐ณ๐ข๐ต๐ช๐ถ๐ด ๐ข๐ต ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ณ๐ช๐ฅ๐จ๐ฆ from memory while the world was on fire. Our students just joined that tradition. ๐
Churchill first memorized the poem at Harrow School, and with the Germans just beyond the White Cliffs of Dover, he recited all 70 stanzas from memory โ drawing strength from a story about one man holding the line against impossible odds. Now our students have done the same, earning the Winston Churchill Award by memorizing and reciting every word of Macaulay's epic poem.

Our 6th grade students enjoyed a wonderful field trip to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and the National Postal Museum! ๐ฌ
At the Shrine, students reflected on the universality of the Catholic Church as they explored the many beautiful side chapels representing different nations and traditions. They also prayed the Rosary together before the image of Our Lady of Czestochowa.
Afterward, students took the Metro to Union Station and visited the Postal Museum, where they learned about the fascinating history of the United States Postal Service. They especially enjoyed designing their own stamps and writing postcards to loved ones.

Our 6th graders have been hard at work (literally!) investigating minerals this week ๐๐ชจ
Using streak plates, copper, glass, and steel nails, students tested hardness and streak to identify different specimens like real geologists. There were lots of surprised faces as they discovered that minerals donโt always look the way we expect โ and that appearances can be deceiving!
Favorite moment of the day: trying to determine which samples were real gold and which were foolโs gold (pyrite). Letโs just sayโฆ not everyone guessed correctly at first!
