Is there a chance you will offer a 7-8 Pod program next year??

Nova Labs MakerSchool is a new program within Nova Labs, a 501(c)3 education chartered makerspace. We are in Reston, VA, and as parents of children in Fairfax and Loudoun County, very concerned about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on K-12 education.

We are working hard to create microschool classes both for all families. We have teen classes on Mondays, when most kids are not in school, as well as Book Clubs and Earth/Space Science classes on Tuesdays for K-6. We have some afterschool classes scheduled already, and are working hard to add biology, chemistry, and physics labs for teens, as well as HW help sessions in those subjects.

The Nova Labs Family and the Nova Labs MakerSchool had a great time at the STEAM4Kids Meetup on Friday celebrating summer and WATER! We raced boats with a Japanese fountain-like device placed at the head of the track. One of our resident fun science experts, Dave Fritz, demonstrated some of the properties of water. Plus, we all showed off our favorite facemasks!

Last week was a busy one for teens at the NL Makerschool. "Makers on Fire" offered campers five days packed with projects that included laser engraving a light sculpture, designing a rocket with Onshape CAD software and then 3d printing it, making a leather key chain, customizing a travel mug with vinyl cut in the CNC cutter, and assembling an electronic game.
