Another update on school supplies. They will arrive tomorrow and will be distributed to the teachers during the day.

We can’t believe school starts on Monday! The PTO will be partnering with Silverbrook staff to host the Boohoo/Yahoo. Stop by the library from 8:45-9:30 AM to meet other wonderful parents on the first day of school.

Update: If you ordered school supplies through the PTO, they are scheduled to arrive Friday afternoon and will be placed in your child's classroom! Don't worry about labeling, all of that will be handled for you!

The Silverbrook cafeteria was buzzing with excitement this morning during the Welcome Back Breakfast for teachers and staff! The PTO sponsored the breakfast with food from ColMoni's Catering and a teacher supply bar that was overflowing with teacher favorites.

THANK YOU to all of you who made the supply bar possible with your generous donations! We couldn't have made it happen without your support.

Hi all,
We know some of the teacher assignments were listed on Clever. The school notified us that these lists aren’t finalized and placements could change. Teacher announcements should come out mid-day Monday, August 14. Only a few more weeks!

The summer is coming to an end, but your new PTO Board is just getting started! This year's board consists of the following Silverbrook parents:

On behalf of the Silverbrook Elementary school community, we'd like to thank Sandy Anderson for her many years of service to the board. Sandy's selfless service to our school through the various programs and improvement that she initiated will leave a lasting mark. We wish you the best as you start your next adventure!

A huge thank you to all the book donations from around our community and the countless hours from all our volunteers to ensure that every child went home with a book at this year's book swap! We so appreciate your support and generosity!

Don’t forget that tonight is drop off night for the book swap! We will be in the cafeteria from 6:30-7:30 before the PTO meeting! Use the cafeteria doors!

First collection for the Book Swap is done!! It's a solid place to start!

There is a collection box out front under the awning if you have some you would like to drop off. Otherwise, please keep sending books in with your kiddos! We are hoping to make this first swap a success!

Amazon Smile announced earlier this week that they have decided to discontinue their fundraising program due to lack of participation. Over a million charities that were using Amazon Smile as a small passive fundraising stream are losing that funding. For organizations like PTA/PTOs, Amazon Smile had taken over some of what we were all able to make on BoxTops. Silverbrook's PTO made $342.95 last year!

We have until the end of February before the program ends. And, I am feeling a little like Horton! If you haven't had a chance to designate a charity on your Amazon Smile, now is the time. If you don't have a favorite charity you would like to support, please consider designating the Silverbrook PTO! Let's show Amazon that these charities may be small, but we are indeed here and go out with a bang!!

Strategies Lab Parent Volunteers Needed

Can you offer a gift of time on Monday mornings? Strategies Labs begins later this month! The strategies lab is a learning environment that develops critical habits of mind and thinking behaviors. The Lab also promotes risk taking, social learning, and character development. The hands-on board games, puzzles, and brain activities used in the strategies lab not only improves sensory-motor and visual-spatial skills but also fosters higher level thinking abilities like questioning, problem solving, abstract reasoning and ingenuity.

Volunteers are needed to assist classroom teachers and to set-up, clean-up and prepare the lab for the next class of students. Volunteers also assist with monitoring the activities and helping students learn the rules. The strategies lab is a great place to volunteer. Today's the big day! We saw lots of excited faces coming through the book fair to preview today so far! We hope to see you all tonight from 5-8pm! Enter through the front doors, and follow the signs!

We would like to thank all our families who donated to this year's Seahawks Strong Annual Giving Campaign! We just missed our goal, but we should be able to work within the budget to meet the obligations to the school and staff!

Five classes reached their class goals (Newman, Desmond, Gardner, Martin, and West)! Congrats! We will be coordinating with those teachers to setup a paint party for the kids!

It's exciting to watch us move closer to the school goal for the Seahawks Strong Annual Giving Campaign! We are 75% of the way there with donations from just 225 students!
