☀️Are you a college student or college-bound high school senior wondering what to do this Summer? We have just the thing! Serve your community and the children of West Virginia by spending your summer with Energy Express!

Counties throughout the state are hiring Mentors and Community Coordinators!

As an AmeriCorps member, you will be eligible to earn an education award, a living allowance, and an in state tuition waiver for up to two semesters!

PARENTS—Don’t forget that TOMORROW is open house at Fairdale Elementary at 11:00! After each class preforms, you will be able to go look at the classroom that your child has been in this summer! The students will eat lunch at 12, and then you can take them home right after! We can’t wait to see you + show you what we’ve been working hard on! 🐷

For our community service project for this summer, we are collecting donations at various places + partnering with the Eat Cake Foundation to provide these donations to our community. Here is a list of items + locations to donate:

• School supplies at Bible Baptist Church in MacArthur
• School supplies at Coal Marsh Missionary Baptist Church in Glen Daniel
• Hygiene products at Cove Creek Community Church in Fairdale
• Non-perishable foods at Bolt Church of God in Bolt
*ALL of the above items are also being accepted at Fairdale Elementary School through next week from 8:30-12:30*

Week 1 (Myself Week) and Week 2 (Family Week) are officially wrapped up!!! We have had SO much fun with the kids so far and we are looking forward to the rest of the summer ☺️

Just a reminder—there is NO Energy Express on Monday, July 4th, in observance of Independence Day. Enjoy your weekend + holiday and we will see you bright and early Tuesday morning ☀️

Check this out!!! There is a FREE block party happening at Fairdale on July 10th from 5:00-7:00 in the evening! We also wanted to share the other locations that are happening around us. There will be face painting, games, inflatables, popcorn, and popsicles—all FREE! 🍿

Don’t forget meet the mentor on Monday, June 20th, from 12-1. We will also have a FOOD TRUCK handing out free food to our students + their families! See you then!!!

Summer is here, which means Energy Express is back! We cannot wait to see everyone next week! Monday, June 20th, is “Meet the Mentor” from 12-1 and Energy Express officially begins on Tuesday, June 21st with drop-off being from 8:20-8:30 and pick-up at 12:30. Until then, we would like to introduce our team for the summer:

Alyssa McGhee is a third year mentor and is studying Elementary Education at Concord University.

Alyssa Williams is a first year mentor and is studying Elementary Education at Concord University.

Lori Gosnell is a second year mentor and is studying Massage Therapy at New River Valley.

Dustin Workman is a first year mentor studying Pre-Pharmacy at West Virginia University.

Karen Daniel is our site supervisor and she teaches kindergarten at Fairdale Elementary.

Angel Bays is our community coordinator and she is a kindergarten aide at Fairdale Elementary.

We all cannot wait to meet you next week! ☀️
