Eric Wright cares enough to tell students the truth and keep showing up, even when they push back.

For nearly 16 years, Eric has been a steady presence at Fairborn Digital Academy. As an accountability coach, enrollment coordinator, math tutor, photographer, and mentor, he helps students understand what success will require and reminds them that a second chance is still theirs to claim.

“I was one of them,” Eric said. “I had a rough family life, and I can relate. I’ve been there.”

Students quickly learn that Eric’s high expectations come from a deeply personal understanding of what they may be facing. He knows they have to do the work themselves, but he refuses to stop believing they can.

33 diplomas and 33 different ways to get there.

Last week, we watched 33 Fairborn Digital Academy seniors cross the stage for their high school diplomas. Their journeys were all different, but each one is a reminder of what can happen when students are met with support, accountability, flexibility, and people who genuinely care.

Behind every diploma is a story. Behind every story is a student who kept going.

For some students, school hasn’t always felt safe, supportive, or comfortable. That sense of safety is part of what makes the environment at Fairborn Digital Academy so important. 💙

Heather D’Agostino has become known around FDA for her “mom hugs,” those small moments of encouragement, care, and reassurance that help students feel seen and supported.

“They know I am safe,” Heather said. “They know FDA is safe. And that’s what matters.”

At FDA, relationships matter. Because when students feel safe, supported, and understood, everything else becomes more possible.

As an Accountability Coach at Fairborn Digital Academy, Sheila builds trust with students one conversation, one moment, and one connection at a time. Whether she’s helping a student stay on track or capturing their confidence through a senior photo, her work is rooted in care that lasts.

Kim Sherwood has done exactly that at Fairborn Digital Academy. From managing critical student data to greeting students each day with a snack and a smile, she has helped create the unique structure and care that allow our students to succeed.
