Last month the UAF Department of Science and Environmental Journalism welcomed environmental journalist Michelle Nijhuis as part of the Snedden Speaker Series.

Nijhuis spoke with students about reporting on climate change and conservation, and the challenge of covering what she calls β€œslow emergencies,” environmental crises that unfold over decades.

At UAF, students studying science and environmental journalism report on environmental change in real time across Alaska, from melting ice and wildfire smoke to subsistence policy and resource development.
