Monitoring seawater reveals ocean acidification risks to Alaskan shellfish hatchery
New collaborative research between NOAA, University of Alaska and an Alaskan shellfish hatchery shows that ocean acidification may make it difficult for Alaskan coastal waters to support shellfish hatcheries by 2040 unless costly mitigation efforts are installed to modify seawater used in the hatche…

New research shows that surface waters of the Chukchi and Beaufort seas could reach levels of acidity that threaten the ability of animals to build and maintain their shells by 2030, with the Bering Sea reaching this level of acidity by 2044.

Study finds Alaskans concerned about ocean acidification, but hazy on details
Alaskans are three times as likely as Americans as a whole to know about ocean acidification and be worried about it -- but not entirely clear on the scientific process that is changing the chemistry of the oceans.

Researchers examine glaciers' effects on ocean acidification in Prince William Sound
Researchers suspect that melting glaciers pose a double-whammy for acidifying oceans, but this summer, three underwater "gliders" and sensors attached to a tour boat will be deployed in Prince William Sound to gather further information.
