We'd love to see NEXT TUESDAY at our Post-Season Banquet, scheduled for March 24th @ West Valley from 6 - 8 pm.

We will be doing an Italian-style theme similar to last year's banquet.

Please RSVP the number of folks you're bringing (via a comment here or by emailing Coach Baxter), so we can generate an accurate head count. Coach Kaylen Baxter looks forward to the banquet every year because he can highlight the growth the wrestlers displayed during the season, gains we have made, and share his optimism for the future.

Camps begin May 26 and run through August 6. Extra mat time benefits our wrestlers!

Parent Meeting: March 17th, 7:30pm in the Randy Smith Gym. We will have a quick (15 min) parent information meeting right after practice. Please attend!

Our 7 week club season will focus on Freestyle, Greco, and Folkstyle wrestling and is a great opportunity for more time on the mat!

We need bodies to help set up on Thursday night (tomorrow 2/26) at about 7:30 pm. We have lots of mats to get into place and taped down. Wolfpack Wrestlers - I'm counting on you to be there and help out!!

The 50th annual Jr. High Tanana Tournament is scheduled at West Valley on Feb 27 & 28th (Fri & Sat). We will have 6 mats to set up, 4 in the main gym and 2 in the mat room plus the head table stage and everything else. We will need bodies to assist with those efforts, WRESTLERS I'M LOOKING AT YOU.

I have sent a list of wrestlers whose parents responded to the last email for help during the tournament on Friday, if you have not responded and your wrestlers are able and willing please reach out and I can get an updated list to the administration to avoid any unexcused absences.

Below are some links for things that need to be tended to during the event. We have been tasked with concessions and organization of that is well underway.
There are some links below for Volunteers to help man this endeavor for the two-day tournament and food donations for Concessions and the Hospitality Suite. The 750-950 wrestlers come with a crew of coaches, referees and table help who cannot “step out to grab a meal” during the tournament, so we really do NEED your help.

PARKING REMINDER: during Friday before 4 pm, please park on the PAC side of the parking lot as this is where we will come and go from the gym. Please remind everyone not to park like turkeys, blocking roadways and particularly bus access on the other side of the school. The football team is going to help out with directing parking but it will likely still be a headache.

Apologizing for all this information at once, but there is a lot going on in the coming weeks and we need all hands on deck!

First, the 50th Annual Jr. High Tanana Invitational Tournament is scheduled at West Valley on Feb 27 & 28th, and by proximity we have been elected to help facilitate (by elected I mean I volunteered us as I have great faith in us and our abilities.) It's a win-win for both us and the wrestling community.

This tournament has been a pillar of the wrestling community statewide for the last 5 decades and it has outgrown Tanana Middle School. The initial plan was to host it at the Carlson Center but there were scheduling conflicts and so this year it'll be held at WV as we have the largest HS gym. It will take place Friday DURING the school day.
To have the least impact on school we will come and go out of the PAC doors and into the gym via that access Friday until about 4 pm Friday evening; Saturday we will be able to come and go through the main doors.
Parking will be at a premium Friday until school is out and the student body has gone home for the weekend. Please do your part and do not impact buses or other parents trying to pick up kids. After about 4 pm Friday it will be less of a headache for the remainder of the event.

Set up for the tournament will be Thursday night after in-season WV sports practices are completed about 7:30. I will have most of the stuff staged already so it is easy to put into place once the gym is clear. We will have 6 mats to set up, 4 in the main gym and 2 in the mat room plus the head table stage and everything else.

We are asking that all current West Valley wrestlers attend and help out with the event. Since it is a Jr High Tournament and our WV wrestlers are not wrestling, we need YOU to help make it a success. If they are able, we also ask that our wrestlers are excused from school on Friday to assist will all the things we need to be manned. Please respond to me if your wrestler can afford to miss Friday so I can get a list to the administration for prearranged (excused) absences.

WV wrestlers! You've been offered an opportunity to help out at Randy Smith Middle School wrestling practices, and here's the info you'll need. For Friday & Saturday's Winter Break Camp, setup on Friday begins at 2:15p to pull out mats & get set up before the middle schoolers arrive. Coach Davis will be present to open the doors and help out. Practice runs 3-6pm on both days.

** FNSBSD requires practices be cancelled if temperatures are -40°F. We will post HERE by 1pm if practice is cancelled. **

Join us TODAY at the Carlson Center for the ASAA Mid Alaska Conference Saturday (12/13). Weigh-ins are at 7:00am. Doors open at 8:30am. Wrestling begins at 9:00am with Finals slated to begin at 4:00pm.
