Wrestling Update - September 1
Our first couple of weeks of preseason have started off great. with lots of participation and kids showing up to open mat. The more kids we get in the mat room now, the better shape we'll be in for the official start of the season.
Golden Ticket:
Please get prerequisite stuff done PRIOR to the start of the season so you are eligible on day one.
To be eligible to compete you need 10 official practices, we can only start to count those practices once you complete all the steps and receive your golden ticket from the office, so it is important to get everything out of the way now.
The front office will be handing out Golden Tickets for wrestling starting September 21st.
This is to ensure kids don't lose them prior to the start of season.
Additionally, arbitersports, is the new program being used instead of Big Teams. With the transition, a copy of the Sports Physical did not transfer to the new arbitersports system. You will need to upload a copy of your physical. This does not mean you need to get a physical if the previous one is still current, however if you do not have a copy of it you may need to contact the office where you had it done and request another copy.

Sponsorship Opportunity:
Wolfpack Wrestling has been approached by the Fairbanks Central Labor Council for a fundraising opportunity. We have been asked to assist in the Labor Day picnic on September 7th.
We need wrestlers to volunteer during the event by selling raffle tickets, assisting with clean up and other needs for the event.
If you’re able to join us & volunteer, please show up at AlaskaLand / Pioneer Park at 12:30 Monday, Sept 7th, wearing your finest Wolfpack Wrestling gear.
Please rep our team! This ensures WVHS Wrestling is well represented and helps the organizers recognize who is there to help. This is a great opportunity for us to help in the community and earn money, too.
Schedule (preseason):
These next couple of weeks we will continue with our current schedule:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
2:15-3:00 Lift in the weight room
3:00-4:00 Study Hall
4:00-5:30 Mat Time
We may move things around on short notice due to current in-season sports needing the mat room for visiting teams or other usage needs. In that case we will have alternate workouts but we will still have activities. If these interruptions persist we will take a look at moving the schedule to Monday-Thursday in the future for preseason activities.
Schedule Notes:
I am currently working out the season schedule with school administration. I expect to have something nailed down by early next week and will send it out so parents can schedule time off as needed.

Nov 13 & 14 - Lancer Smith Memorial @ Menard Center in Wasilla
Nov 19 - 21 - Dustin Baxter Memorial @ West Valley
(This is our Home Tournament and will need lots of help!)
Dec 4 & 5 - John Tobin Invite @ North Pole
Dec 12 - MAC Regional Tournament @ Lathrop
Dec 18 & 19 - ASAA State Tournament @ Alaska Airlines Center in ANC
