A free workshop in Delta Junction will review the legal requirements for selling homemade foods in Alaska.
Sarah Lewis, with the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service, will lead the workshop from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, March 1.
It is designed for individuals who currently have, or are interested in starting, a home-based food business. Farmers and people who support local food sales can also attend.
In 2024, the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation significantly revised the rules for such sales.
The workshop is designed to help people comply with the new rules. Lewis, a health, home and family development agent, will also discuss homemade food risks and basic produce safety practices for farmers.
The workshop is cosponsored by Partners for Progress in Delta.
