This week we read "The Grouchy Ladybug". It's not because I'm grumpy, but that we've seen ladybugs and click beetles all over the place. I was frieked out by my first summer spruce beetle, but I'm still alive. Bugs are fascinating but sometimes beyond.
Anyway, Eric Carle rocks.

Shannon Park Preschool now rocks! We are licensed and our number of students is maxed (for now)! Things have been busy. We've put up new book shelves and I've been shopping for brand new table and chairs. Slowly we have gathered other games and toys to our library. SPP is moving along in good ways with an awesome class!

Licensing is on the verge of completion!! While working on it, new ideas boiled out of my brain. For example, I was searching for another place in the house to put unused material when my wife suggested to clean up the garage and make a new space. It sounded ludicrous, since the garage was the most frightening place in the house, but I spent 7 hours todaty to clean it up. Blood, sweat and tears were shed, but I did end up with some extra space. Success!

After dragons and trolls, the girls decided to learn about unicorns. Next week, I'll try to tease them out of something so... magical. How about cars? Construction? Forests? Whales? Normal horses? Anything! This is, however, a great book when one wants to learn about unicorn history. I image this isn't a subject in any collage.

The troll and goats- who will win?

Note: Amy Jackson Dixon is an incredible illustrator. This book makes the goats vs. troll story truly scary.

This coming week, we will meet the 3 Billy Goats Gruff and the troll who lives under the bridge. Since dragons are man-eaters (except Puff, of course), I thought we could follow with a similar beast: the troll. I'm going to work on my felt board story skills and there is a variety of activities in addition. These kids are going to party hardy!

Next week: dragons. I played some Peter, Paul & Mary and the kids took notice on "Puff the Magic Dragon". Since we've been learning about birds, they may have been dreaming of giant birds that live in caves (nests). Pretty awesome! I've got some work to do!

This week we study birds; specificly, eagles. There are many marvelous resources in town that offer toys, games, ideas, curriculum, etc, so we ended up with an entire flock of bird puppets. The kids put all of the birds together within the eagle's 6' span nest. These are some smart kids! ;.)

Last weekend, I took photos at the Yukon Quest start and shared them with the kids. They loved seeing the pictures of the dogs, and we all played with toy puppies and sleds today. Someday, I'm going to get a dog; a dog that will eat our cat. My daughter didn't like that idea.

New change with the policies: this school WILL BE OPEN THROUGH SUMMER!

This week, the crew read "Mama, Do You Love Me?" Our theme follows through, with puzzles, games, books and puppets that are related to Inuit life and the Arctic Ocean. Thinking that having born in Fairbanks, Alaska, I thought I would know everything about it. I am very wrong, and there is a world of information to gather. I am excited to find Eskimo tribal songs at the library. We are going to ROCK!
