Did you know sensory play can have substantial benefits to a child’s development?

I’m excited to share with you some reasons how,

They encourage self expression:
Children sometimes have trouble getting “out of their own heads” long enough to see the world from someone else’s perspective. This is where the importance of art comes in. By making something from an original idea that still matches one’s own self-expression and personality, children can create interesting works of art as they try new things and explore different designs.

Perfectly tactile:
For kids who struggle with sensory processing, being able to squish, throw, roll, or shape playdough can help them better manage this difficulty. In fact, many therapists use playdough as an active intervention tool for children who have trouble coping with outside stimuli.

Science and math:

As children are shaping play dough, they are also learning about cause and effect. You can further these experiences by engaging in conversations with your child during this process. Ask open-ended questions and allow experimentation.

This week we are learning about community helpers in many fun ways

Community helpers aren’t as black and white as numbers or ABCs when it comes to their purpose in the toddler/preschool classroom. Here are some concrete ways they help young children grow.

Answering the question “What do community helpers do?” in preschool can:

Show kids that they belong to a greater community.
Teach them that there are grown-ups to help them in every situation.
Help them learn to ask for assistance when needed.
Teach common safety rules for home and school.
Inspire future career choices.
Encourage exciting and educational dramatic play.
