Meet one of our incredible graduating students, Grace Angivran Moore-Anderson!
Fairbanks-born and Yup'ik, German and Irish, Grace is graduating this May with her M.A. in Indigenous Studies from UAF. Her thesis explores the urban Native experience and what shapes cultural identity for Native youth growing up in cities.
She shared, "I did not learn Yugtun growing up, learning my heritage language during my adult life has been so healing."
Her advice to current or future students? "Do something that feels purposeful and personal, and do it from a place of love."
Congratulations, Grace! 🎉

This time, however, he arrived with a documentary film crew from PBS/NOVA, who are producing a program on Indigenous science and traditional knowledge systems. This documentary will capture Cannon's research and relationship with Chief Fred Sangris of Yellowknives Dene First Nation, who is a knowledge bearer and practitioner of traditional Dene star navigation.
