Our time in Utqiaġvik, Alaska, wasn’t just about research—it was about connecting with the next generation of scientists! 🌨️ From leading field trips and career panels to hosting STEAM activities at the 2024 BARC Science Fair, we had the chance to engage local students in the wonders of Arctic science. Watching them explore snow, climate, and environmental health was incredibly rewarding. Inspiring young minds to see the science in their own backyard is what it’s all about!

The University of Alaska Fairbanks made the trek to Utqiaġvik, AK to contribute to the Snow ALbedo eVOlution, or ‘SALVO, field campaign's final year. The campaign follows the spring-to-summer snowmelt transition on tundra and sea ice sites, examining how snowmelt drives the seasonal evolution of land and sea surface albedos in the Alaskan Arctic.
