This Memorial Day, the University of Alaska Fairbanks College of Business and Security Management remembers and honors the brave heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

In a community deeply connected to the military through both UAF and our local military installations, we are grateful for the veterans, active-duty service members, military families, and our students who strengthen our campus each day. Their courage and sacrifice continue to inspire us and remind us of the true meaning of service.

Jim also served as Chair of the Main Division Judges, helping guide and support innovative ideas shaping Alaska’s future.

The 2026 competition showcased the incredible talent and ingenuity of Alaska’s students and entrepreneurs—including this year’s 1st Place Main Division winners, whose Arctic Heat Recovery System highlights meaningful solutions for communities across our state.
