Two weeks ago, we were honored to spend three days with Tribal leaders, Elders, artists, and learners from around the state at our 2025 Tribal Governance Symposium. Each day, conversations & sharing focused on traditional leadership, sovereignty, and the future of Indigenous governance. There was no shortage of wisdom, inspiration, reflection, and hope! Thank you to everyone who joined, especially our speakers, panelists, and Elders.

Born, raised and an enrolled Tribal citizen in Keex’ (Kake), I am the current Executive Director of the Organized Village of Kake (OVK) www.kake-nsn.gov . I have been with the Tribe since 1997 in various capacities before I stepped into my current position in 2016. I hold a M.A. in Anthropology from the University of British Columbia.
I thrive in places of planning with project partners, rooted in my local traditional values, while trying to learn about every changing environment around me and online.
Today, I am a proud mother (and empty nester!) of two finding peace, wellness, balance, and learning our traditional ways of life in the ocean, beaches, woods, and mountains alongside my family in my homelands of Keex’, in the heart of Lingit Aani (Southeast Alaska).
Dawn Jackson will be speaking at the 2025 Tribal Governance Symposium: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow, happening at our Troth Yeddha' Campus in Fairbanks, AK from October 28-30.

Anna “Annie” Huntington-Kriska, Koyukon Athabascan, has been involved in the tribal and business community for over fifty years, starting as the office manager for the village council in Rampart, Alaska. Over time, Annie’s professional roles grew to involve accounting, program development, organizational management, business management, teaching and curriculum development, proposal writing, contract management, risk management, grant making, and grants management.
She notes that one of her more exciting and rewarding jobs was with the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where she facilitated the creation and development of the Tribal Management Program beginning in early 2000. Her community contributions over the years include advisor to many communities and organizations across the nation, and as tribal advisor to various local, state and federal agencies such as the Association for Proposal Management Professionals, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Education, and several U.S. Department of Health & Human Services programs. Aside from her part-time work as a consultant and her community involvement, she enjoys reading, walking, bowling, billiards, and spending time with her grandchildren.
