Our first full day kicked off with a growth mindset exercise - students designed and built brush bots and practiced the power of “I don’t know how to…yet!” The bot creation culminates with a fun speed and sumo competition.
Students also explored Design Thinking by partnering up to create wallets based on a customer’s wants and needs. Using cardboard and tape, they quickly moved from ideas to prototypes — practicing creativity, problem-solving, and iteration.
A perfect reminder that great designs come from trying, testing, and improving along the way!

Students jumped into Digital Storytelling by heading outside to capture photographs of objects and moments around them. They brought their images into Canva to explore the art of editing and visual communication.
Students learned that storytelling is about more than just choosing a filter — they experimented with shadows, contrast, temperature, and other tools to transform their photos and strengthen the story behind each image.
Every picture has a perspective, and our students are learning how to share theirs.

We’ve had a great start to our second summer session in Fairbanks. After traveling from their villages, the students were welcomed and settled into their dorm rooms at the Yukon-Koyukuk School District CTE Learning Facility, ready for a week of exploration, creativity, and hands-on learning.
Students explored the Makerspace/STEM Lab before sharing a wonderful dinner with our supportive elders, Irene and Eliza, who helped welcome students into the T3 community.
A great first evening filled with connection, curiosity, and excitement for what’s ahead!
