アメリカでシュタイナー幼稚園（プリスクール）を2002年から経営しています。2歳半から5歳半ぐらいまでの子供達と過ごす日々です。場所は自宅と裏庭。コンセプトは、『縁側保育』。私が過ごした田舎の祖母の家。門の中の敷地には、母屋と「はなれ」、農作業をする納屋、庭には鶏小屋があり小さな畑と庭園、楽しい作業は日の当たる縁側や小さな畑、土間のかまどや台所で祖母とした思い出を大切に、子供達と過ごす日々。うちの園でも、ひさしのある自宅と裏庭との間の「縁側部分」は大切な保育シーンです。
