🎨 Bold Lines, Bright Colors, and Abstract Art!

Sneak Peak!  
Our second-grade artists explored the colorful world of Venezuelan-American contemporary artist, Stanley Bermudez! Inspired by his vibrant abstract artwork, students experimented with geometric shapes, bold black outlines, and colorful lines to create their own unique compositions.

Using tempera cake paints and black oil pastel, students explored how color, line, and shape work together to create movement, contrast, and rhythm. By arranging shapes at different angles and painting colorful stripes in different directions, they added energy and visual interest to their artwork.

We are incredibly proud of all our Saint Mel fall athletes! From the volleyball court and football field to cross country courses and the sidelines with our amazing cheerleaders, our Irish athletes have shown tremendous dedication, teamwork, sportsmanship, and school spirit throughout the season! 🍀

A huge thank you to our coaches, parents, and families for the countless hours of encouragement, support, and commitment that make our athletic programs so special. We are truly blessed with an incredible community!

🕷️🕸️ It was a spider-filled day of learning and fun in Preschool! 🧡

Our little learners explored the number of the week, 8, by creating their very own spiders with eight legs! 🕷️ They wrapped up the day with a fun art activity, rolling marbles to create spiderwebs and adding adorable handprint spiders!

What a wonderful way to combine counting, creativity, and fine motor skills! So much spooky fun happening in Preschool at Saint Mel! 💚💛

Our 7th graders led this month’s buddy activity, helping our TK students create colorful stained-glass Halloween crafts. They shared ideas, encouraged their buddies, and helped bring each design to life. 🎨🕸️

It was wonderful to see our 7th graders step into leadership roles and our TK students proudly show off their creations. We loved watching these buddies work and create together! 🧡

🍁🌳 Fall Fun Meets STEM in Kindergarten! 🍂🔨

Our little engineers were hard at work putting their creativity and problem-solving skills to the test! Our Kindergarteners were challenged to build a freestanding fall tree using only a specific set of materials.

Through imagination, patience, and lots of trial and error, students explored balance, stability, and creative design. Some trees toppled, others needed a little adjusting, but our Kinders showed perseverance and determination as they worked through each challenge! 💚💛

We love seeing our youngest learners think outside the box, learn from their mistakes, and celebrate their successes!

Way to go, Kinders! 🌳🍁👏

Seventh grade is hard at work on their profile portraits! Students began by carefully sketching their portraits, focusing on proportion, shape, and detail. Sixth grade finished their Pop Art candy projects! Students took everyday candy and turned it into bold, colorful artwork using bright colors, strong outlines, and lots of personality. It was fun to see how each student made the same idea completely their own. These pieces definitely brought some sweetness and color to the art room!
