This year, SHARE funded Kanam Women Initiative in Kenya to train 20 teenage mothers and victims of female ge***al mutilation in detergent production and laundry services. The project established a small “laundry hub” where beneficiaries will provide laundry services using a semi-industrial machine funded by the project. The beneficiaries learned customer service, hygiene, and how to operate laundry machines. One young mother of two can now earn a regular income on a consistent basis in a safe work environment. She can now provide food for her family and return her children to school.

SHARE funded Turkana Community Foundation to economically empower 20 teen mothers by providing entrepreneurial training and access to microcredit services. The beneficiaries were organized into four peer-support groups with five members each. Each group received structured entrepreneurship and financial literacy sessions covering topics such as basic bookkeeping and record keeping as well as pricing and profit calculation. Family planning and life-skills sessions were integrated into the training sessions to address factors contributing to repeated teenage pregnancies. Each beneficiary received guidance in developing a simple and practical business plan aligned with local market opportunities. The project team disbursed $50 microloans to 10 participants for business startup or expansion.

SHARE funded Diaconia Burundi to improve the livelihoods of 15 pregnant and nursing women through a program that integrates sutainable agriculture, nutritional education and economic empowerment. The project consists of various activities including a sustainble garden and the establishment of a savings and credit group to finance their own entrepreneurial pursuits. A case study showed that the women were able to collect a total of 1,290,000 FBU (around 430 USD) from contributions and sales, opening the possiblity to more microfinance projects.

SHARE invested in Aida Detergents in Cameroon, providing training to 30 single mothers in detergent production and marketing. The participants received comprehensive training in nutritious soap production, as well as education on hygiene and safe production practices. The project's objective is to enhance the financial and nutritional well-being of its beneficiaries. Following a selection process, 15 women were awarded startup capital funding based on their participation and commitment. One beneficiary has successfully started selling 7 bottles weekly on a small scale.

SHARE's Youth Development Center in Cameroon recently provided training to 15 single mothers in plantain chips and pastry baking skills. Over the course of three days, the women received comprehensive training, including a presentation on successful sales strategies and hands-on practical experience. The training culminated in a session on effective marketing techniques. One beneficiary, a mother of three who lost her husband during the Anglophone crisis, had previously struggled to financially support her children's education. However, following the training, she has successfully saved enough to enroll her children in a better school.

This year, SHARE funded Bangladesh Integrated Social Advancement Program (BISAP) to provide 30 disaster affected women with sewing machines. They were also given practical training on machine operations, maintenance and basic repairs. The project enabled the beneficiaries to generate sustainable income.

One inspiring mother of two who previously struggled to make ends meet has now started a small home based tailoring business. She tailors clothes for her neighbors and customers which helps her earn a steady income to nourish her family and support her children's education and wellbeing. Her business has not only improved her family's financial stability but also enabled her to send her kids to school.

SHARE funded BISAP in Bangladesh for a second round to support 30 disaster-affected and vulnerable women through the distribution and training of sewing machines to establish income generating activities. In spite of harrowing climate conditions that delayed distribution and transporation, the beneficiaries were still able to establish their own small businesses. One case study thanked the SHARE Insititute stating that this was a "turning point that transformed her from a disaster survivor into a self-reliant woman with renewed confidence in the future".

SHARE funded the Ghanian Biochar Initiative to combat food insecurity and slowing deforestation impacts through the use of a sustainable cookstove micro-loan program. 10 households with a total of 26 direct beneficiaries held engagement meetings and specialized field training sessions before distributing the first batch of pilot stoves. The project target several goals that include better overall health and safety and economic empowerment in the form of technician and entrepreneurial oppurtunities.
