El Sereno High School For over 30 years, El Sereno has been the flagship for independent study high schools in the state of California.

El Sereno was one of the first independent study high schools established in coordination with the California Department of Education.

Parents, guardians and community members interested in participating in this process are invited to join one or more of our Curriculum Adoption Committees. Don’t miss your chance to apply for a scholarship for Camp Winthers summer Music Camp program!
Music Camp will take place Aug. 1-6, and is open for students ages 10-17 who have completed a minimum of one FULL year of instruction on a band instrument (brass, woodwinds and percussion).

San Juan Unified is partnering with UC Davis Health to provide COVID-19 vaccination clinics at two locations in the district:

*Sylvan Middle School every Thursday (except April 14) through the end of April from 1:30 to 6 p.m. in the school’s library

*Arcade Middle School every Tuesday in April (except for April 12) from 3 to 7 p.m. in the school’s MP room

Pfizer doses will be provided for all eligible ages (including students, family members and community members). Individuals will receive a $25 gift card if they receive their 1st or 2nd dose at one of these clinics. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred. Reposted from San Juan Unified seniors can now apply for a variety of scholarships through the San Juan Education Foundation! The Foundation has made it easier for seniors to apply for scholarships by creating a central location where students can view and apply for every scholarship they qualify for. Scholarships range from $500 to $2,000. The deadline to apply is March 18. To learn more about these scholarships visit www.sanjuan.edu/2022scholarships.

To help provide a healthy and safe return to school next week, San Juan Unified is offering rapid (antigen) COVID-19 testing for all students and staff before classes resume at the following locations:

*On Sunday, Jan. 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the District Office (3738 Walnut Ave., Carmichael)
*On Monday, Jan. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at two locations: Andrew Carnegie Middle School (5820 Illinois Ave., Orangevale) and Dyer-Kelly Elementary School (3101 Bell St., Sacramento)

Though testing is optional and a test result is not required to return to school, all students and staff are encouraged to test even if they have been fully vaccinated.

If it’s your student’s first time testing in San Juan Unified, please register your student at www.sanjuan.edu/preregister. Testing is only available for students, staff and approved volunteers. Family members are not eligible for testing through this program.
