At Umka, we believe that a strong early age education will be a firm stepping stone for future success. Our educational program is broken down both by age group and subject set so that each student regardless of their age could experience subjects such as English, Russian, mathematics, the sciences, and the arts. Our programs is derived from the best traditions of the Russian educational program a
ligned with the American educational system. This program is centered to development of speech, writing skills, the intellectual and artistic thought, attention, and fine motor skills. The development of these skills will be of great use in the child's future school career, as well as allow your child to understand, think, and make decisions on his own. The development of these skills will take place through the following subjects. Mathematics: Mathematical reasoning, understanding of numbers and place value, addition and subtraction, geometric figures, time, money, creating and solving basic mathematical problems, all done with a mathematics textbook. English: An introduction to the alphabet and primary vocabulary, memorization and integration of spelling, writing, and grammar skills, development of reading skills including word recognition, text identification, as well as explanations of studied content. Russian: Increase vocabulary and grammar skills, teach children to better formulate coherent thoughts, memorization and delivery of small texts and poems. This is especially helpful and necessary to children with speech issues. Science: The study of plants and animals and their relation to the world around us, appreciation of nature and the seasons. Development of artistic skills through various projects and activities. Music: Growing a child's love for dance, musical instruments, songs, and poetry. As well as practices for our biannual shows.
