*Taps baton*

Ladies and gentlemen... For your evening entertainment, we present to you the second part of our spring concert photo spectacular: snapshots from Memorial Middle, TJ Middle, and Fair Lawn High School.

What did we did we love this season across the district? It's so hard to pin down just one thing! We took a musical roadtrip across America, sang songs in several different languages, learned the technical term for plucking a string instrument (it’s pizzicato, BTW), and heard the incredible work students and staff put toward their talents since we last saw them in winter!

Scroll thru and be sure to drop a like (or thirty!) on your favorite pics 📸

Ok, we admit it. We're a little behind in posting these photos, but it's only because we are out and about covering so many incredible end-of-year events! Without further ado, we bring you the sweet snaps from spring concert season, starting with a handful across our elementary schools!

We'll drop more music magic from MMS, TJMS, and FLHS events later today 🎶

Move over, Virginia, because this year... “Fair Lawn is for Lovers.”

Wonderful Wednesday (maybe this week it’s Wedding Wednesday) is dedicated to Liz Maresca and Nick Magarelli, FLHS Class of 1989. You may have spotted a recent flurry of social media posts or even read up about them in a New York Times article, but the couple’s biggest debut-to-date came last Friday when their episode of “Mom’s the Bride” aired on Hallmark Plus.

This homegrown love story gives us all the feels. Maresca and Magarelli were each other’s crushes senior year, but they never dated. Journeying on completely separate paths for a number of years, the pair reconnected in 2017 during a St. Anne’s Stages production (and shared their very first kiss backstage on opening night).

Maresca and Magarelli, who also happen to work for the Borough, got engaged last year and married this past April (in town, of course!) but not before stopping by FLHS for some shots for the show, posing for great polaroids captured by their friend picturemanbob, as well as a much-needed walk down memory lane.

One more fun fact: Liz’s daughter, Ms. Bridget Maresca, recently joined Fair Lawn Schools as the new music teacher for Radburn and Lyncrest!

Scroll through for photos as well as a little video clip featuring our very-own FLHS Marching Band! Wishing you both a lifetime of love, happiness, and continued Cutter pride!

“We’re not just kind. We go up higher, to that next level, where instead of being a bystander - you’re an upstander.”

This is a Feel Good Friday 👆🏻⬆️❤️

If you tuned in to the May Board of Education meeting, you may have caught the video that played at the end of our State of the Schools presentation. Prompted by an ask from No Place for Hate, student representatives told us their proudest moments as leaders this year. If you listen, you’ll notice a pattern and a rather poignant highlight: reaching out to the younger generation.

On top of the video, No Place for Hate recently recognized two FLHS students for their dedication to the organization. Geffen Wolfson was selected as a 2025-2026 Cynthia Marks Student Legacy Award Winner, and Himalaya Vashistha will spend the summer interning with the ADL as part of their East Division high school summer program! Feel free to drop your kudos in the comments 🥳

Congratulations to all students and staff for another meaningful year of No Place for Hate collaboration and education ✨

Tuesday brings sunshine and a terrifically transformed space for learning at Radburn Elementary 🌳

Radburn alum Gavin Bradway drew up the idea of an outdoor classroom - not only as his Scouts BSA Eagle Scout project - but as a way to give back to his beloved neighborhood school. Working closely with Principal Ms. Jill Lindsay, Gavin got the thumbs up (and funding!) from the Radburn PTA and got to work.

260+ man hours later, Gavin's project shifted from concept to completion. An excited crowd of students, staff, family, friends, and local leaders showed up last week to officially cut the ribbon on this beautiful, nature-filled space. Nestled under a beautiful dogwood tree, the natural wooden benches and tables will give Radburn students and staff a place where learning can extend beyond the four walls of a traditional classroom 🌿🍄🌸

Radburn Eagles (and in this case, *Eagle Scouts*) really do fly higher. Thank you for all your hard work, Gavin!

Now hitting the red carpet for their big "Feel Good Friday" premiere... it's the FLHS Child Care Class of 2026! ⭐️

Our tiniest tykes (and biggest stars) recently "graduated" from their program with a picture-perfect day at Sasso Field. The Hollywood/movie-themed event featured speeches, a fantastic choreographed number, and a handful of games and activities for all to enjoy 🎥🎞️

Needless to say, our preschoolers and high schoolers celebrated this milestone like the true celebrities they are! 🤩

Congrats, Child Care! Keep reaching for the stars 💫

"I trust you're going to do tremendous things, you're going to learn a whole lot... I know you're going to represent Fair Lawn well."

Wise words to pass along this terrific Tuesday via Athletic Director Mr. Mike Escalante, who addressed a fantastic group of student-athletes at FLHS' inaugural college signing day. Last week's celebration was truly an awe-inspiring moment to honor and celebrate 20+ seniors who represent sports across all three seasons.

Scroll through to check out this crew smiling with pride (in their new college gear!) as they pose with family, friends, coaches, and mentors. We're so proud of each and every one of you! 🏈⚽⛹🏐🥍

As the sound of spring concerts fill our halls, it’s time to spotlight a special collab between a Thomas Jefferson Middle School student and her music teacher 🎼🎤

Myeisha Bhansali, a new-to-district student last year caught the ears of 5/6 chorus teacher Ms. Mariia Cosmi, who discovered she not only could sing but compose music as well. Myeisha first played her song “Fly Up High“ at TJ’s Prelude, a preview before the Spring 2025 concert. Written but not complete, Ms. Cosmi worked with her this past fall to polish the piece. Many afterschool brainstorm sessions later, “Fly Up High“ premiered in January at the Winter Concert.

Myeisha tells us she loved honing her craft alongside Ms. Cosmi, carefully pinning down harmonies and just the right transitions so her song could soar. It also happened to be Ms. Cosmi’s first time composing with a student. She’s thrilled Myeisha opened the door for future collaborations across the TJ music program.

If you want to hear more from this crew, we’ve got the TJMS chorus and orchestra concert *tonight* @ 7pm ✨✨

They got themselves a deal, and now it’s time for FLHS students to hold up their end of the bargain 🦈💰

We told you about the group of students who won seed funding for their Threads of Peru Project at The Empathy Equality Entrepreneurship Mission’s Shark Tank competition in our mid-March Corner Column. Now, some of those hard-earned dollars have gone toward marketing and launching the Threads of Peru online marketplace, featuring crafts from artisan weavers 🧵🪡

We dropped the QR code in the video… feel free to scan some of the colorful items up for sale. The marketplace will remain open for a few more days - thru Thursday! - so be sure to snag one-of-a-kind swag that not only benefits a good cause, but would likely make an awesome addition to any Class of 2026 grad gifts 🎁

For more info on the class and the cause, be sure to watch the full reel. Kudos to these marketing mavens for making it happen!
