U.S. News & World Report has published its Best High Schools rankings!

Bergen Arts & Science Charter School is among the top 100 high schools in New Jersey — #94 statewide, out of every public high school in the state. Bergen and Passaic Arts & Science both rank in New Jersey's top 10 charter high schools.

Behind those placements is the number we are proudest of. Across all three of our high schools, 94 to 99 percent of students graduate in four years.

These are tuition-free public charter schools in Garfield, Passaic, and Paterson. Our families do not pay tuition and we do not select our students — we admit by lottery. Reaching this level of performance under those conditions is what equity of opportunity looks like in practice, and it is the work of our teachers, school directors, and the families who trust us with their children.

It is also not the finish line. Graduation is the floor. Our focus this year is college readiness: expanding Advanced Placement access, building the Grade 9 and 10 pipeline that leads into it, and removing the cost and scheduling barriers that keep students from sitting for exams. We want our graduates to leave us with college credit already in hand.

🎉 We are proud to share that Ms. Eleonora Gegaj, Assistant Director of Operations at Bronx Arts and Science Charter School, has been nominated for the 2026–2027 LifeChanger of the Year Award.

Ms. Gegaj spent five years as a fourth-grade Math, Science, and STEM teacher at BASCS, where she was named the school's 2024–2025 Teacher of the Year and received the 2025–2026 Phil Patire Award, recognizing one outstanding teacher across all iLearn elementary schools. She now serves as Assistant Director of Operations and continues to make a lasting impact on students, families, and colleagues across our community.
