It is a bedroom community of Springfield with over 60% of its residents traveling to the Springfield area to work while living and raising their families in this small, rural community. There are 529 households with 1,393 citizens within the Fair Grove city limits which is 3.2 square miles. Fair Grove residents pride themselves on the heritage of the community and support of the Fair Grove school
system. Fair Grove R-10 School district services PK-12 grade students with the Elementary, Middle School and High School all located on one large 57+ acre campus. Student enrollment is currently: High School (grades 9–12): 374 students; Middle School (grade 5-8): 330 students; and Elementary (grades PK-4) 423 students, for a total of 1,127 students. Student admission is based on residency within the district boundaries which span across 82 square miles of parts of four counties: Greene, Dallas, Polk and Webster. There are 5,671 people in 2,192 households within the Fair Grove School District.
