SS. Philip and James School provides a quality Catholic education for students in preschool through 8th grade.

Philip and James School (SSPJ) provides a quality Catholic education for students in preschool (3- and 4-year-olds) through grade 8 combining the best of current teaching strategies and technology with traditional Catholic values in a warm and caring atmosphere. SSPJ has been educating students since 1960 and have a history of challenging academics enhanced by the latest technology, a fine arts program, Spanish, Honors Math, a spacious gym, a STREAM lab, and a state-of-the-art science lab. SSPJ is committed to the faith formation of children from Pre-K 3 through grade 8, using the Archdiocese of Philadelphia curriculum, the expertise of skilled and dedicated teachers, and the active involvement of parents.

SSPJ is fully accredited by the Middle States Commission on Elementary Schools. The school first received accreditation in 1982 and has been accredited by the Commission through 2022. The school was recognized as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 1989-90.

Learning Science by Doing! 🔬

Our 8th graders are putting their scientific skills to work through hands-on learning! This week, students explored the difference between physical and chemical reactions, observing how matter can change and learning how to identify the evidence of a chemical reaction.

Experiences like these encourage our students to ask questions, think critically, make observations, and apply what they learn beyond the classroom. At SSPJ, we believe academic excellence comes to life when students have the opportunity to discover, explore, and learn by doing!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Home and School sponsored Ice Cream Social and Movie Night! It was a fantastic evening filled with delicious treats, fun activities, and great company. We hope you all had a wonderful time and are looking forward to more exciting events in the future!

🎒 Welcome to the Tote Bag Club, 3rd Grade! 🐾

There are some things that just make you officially feel like an SSPJ student and getting your 3rd grade tote bag is one of them! 💚💛

Every Panther gets one, and they’ll carry it throughout their SSPJ years, collecting memories (and probably a few papers, snacks, and treasures 😄) along the way.

A simple tote bag… but a pretty special SSPJ tradition. ❤️

Panther Pride was on full display today! Our students had a blast showing off their Panther spirit in their spirit wear! From big smiles to proud Panthers, it was a wonderful day to celebrate the community that makes our school so special. We love seeing our students proudly represent our school and the faith-filled family we share!

There’s just something special about the first recess of a new school year. The smiles, the laughter, the running, and the joy of being back together again! 🥰

Our SSPJ scholars wasted no time making the most of their first chance to play, catch up with friends, and enjoy being kids. From the playground to the field, it looks like we’re off to a GREAT start!

🌟Our Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 students and families had a wonderful time at Meet the Teacher this morning! 💙It was such a joy to see our youngest Panthers exploring their classrooms, meeting their teachers, and taking those exciting first steps into a new school year. 📚✨
We are so grateful for our families and teachers who make our Catholic school community so special. We can’t wait to see all that this year will bring as our little ones learn, grow, and grow in faith together! ✝️❤️
