A little nature. A little paint. A whole lot of creativity. 🌿🎨

Today our paintbrushes looked a little different!
With pinecones and feathers in hand, our little artists explored how different textures move, drag, dab, swirl and paint across the page.
There was no “right” way to create and no finished product to copy. Just an invitation to explore, experiment and see what happens.
Because when we give children the freedom to create in their own way, the process becomes the masterpiece.

Who says slides are only for going down?

When children climb up a slide in a safe, supervised environment, they’re doing so much more than finding a different way to play. They’re strengthening their arms, legs, and core, developing balance and coordination, building body awareness, and figuring out how to plan each movement as they make their way to the top.
There’s confidence being built, too. Reaching the top after working hard to get there gives little ones that wonderful feeling of “I did it!”
Of course, climbing up the slide isn’t appropriate in every setting. When lots of children are using a slide or someone is waiting to come down, safety comes first. But in the right environment, with appropriate supervision and guidance, allowing children to explore equipment in different ways can create some pretty wonderful opportunities for learning.

At Sagewood, sometimes the best way to grow is to go up the slide. 💚🌿

Why do toddlers sleep with their little bums in the air? 🍑🧡
If you've ever peeked into a toddler classroom during nap time, you've probably seen this adorable sight...
Tiny bottoms up in the air.
It may look funny, but it's actually very common! Many toddlers sleep this way because it's comforting. Curled up with their knees tucked underneath them is a position that reminds them of being cozy in the womb. It's also incredibly comfortable for their flexible little bodies.
Moments like these remind us just how little they still are.
At Sagewood, nap time isn't just about rest, it's a chance for growing bodies and busy brains to recharge after a morning filled with exploring, learning, and play.
Sometimes the sweetest part of our day is simply peeking in to see a room full of peaceful little sleepers... bottoms in the air and all.
