Exeter Summer

Exeter Summer Exeter Summer is Phillips Exeter Academy's summer academic enrichment program for middle and high school students.

Our immersive educational program draws students to Phillips Exeter Academy from around the world for a collaborative summer learning experience. Each summer, our student body represents more than 40 countries and over 30 U.S. states. All attendees are curious, motivated learners seeking new challenges and designing their own courses of study, sport and recreation.

The Exeter Summer program is

one of academic enrichment, based on Harkness learning and collaboration without the stress of making the grade. The focus is on learning through preparation, careful listening, and well-considered discussion contributions. Courses are taught by experienced faculty using Harkness, a philosophy based on student-led group discussion. This way students develop the ability to direct conversations and their own learning.

Summer students enjoy full access to our beautiful campus and state-of-the-art facilities. The 673-acre campus at Phillips Exeter Academy is surrounded by fields, forests and a quaint New England town just 10 miles from the Atlantic Ocean and one hour north of Boston.
