Hey ASCE! Welcome back, just a quick update for you!

This Wednesday, September 13th at 12:00 in Armstrong Hall room 136 we have our first meeting of the semester! It will be a joint general body meeting with the new NSPE (National Society of Professional Engineers). Come see what ASCE is up to and check out NSPE.

There will be free pizza and this will satisfy attending a professional organization meeting required for 09x classes!

Hey ASCE! Two upcoming events:
1) General body meeting Wednesday, April 19th 11:00 Armstrong Hall 136!! Remember, you need to attend a general body meeting as per your 09x requirements!

2) The Central Jersey Branch Younger Member Group is inviting you to please join us for a seminar on "Public Speaking Dos and Don'ts." Wednesday, April 19th 6:00 Armstrong 154.
Tips will include:
a. How to properly prepare for a presentation.
b. How to keep your audience focused and engaged in your presentation.
c. Ensuring that your message is clear and to the point
d. How to think on your feet when you're put on the spot to answer a question.

Hey, ASCE! Some quick updates for you:

1.We will have our first general body meeting of the semester, Wednesday, March 1st @ 11:00, ARM 136. Yes, there will be Pizza!

2. Immediately after, we are having our first Technical seminar of the semester. We have two speakers: Mr. Paul Napoli, a TCNJ alumnus, and Mr. Richard Griffen from ARUP Engineering firm in Manhattan. Stay tuned for more details!

3. Dr. Horst has asked us all to come to the ASCE Central Jersey Branch Technical Dinner Seminar. It is this Tuesday, February 21st, 2017 at 6:15 and will be covering the topic “Fatigue Evaluation on Structural Supports for Highway Signs.” The cost for students is $10 and it’s good food. This will be a great opportunity to network with professionals which may potentially lead to summer internships or post graduate job opportunities!

Hey ASCE!

On Tuesday April 12th, The ASCE Central Jersey Branch will be hosing a joint meeting at the Princeton University Andlinger Center for Energy and Environment. The Andlinger Center is a brand new environmental engineering facility at Princeton University. The event will include:

5:00 pm - Tour of the Andlinger Center
6:00 pm - Social Hour and Business Meeting
7:00 pm - Dinner and Presentation at Chancellor Green Rotunda

The cost is $15 for students. This is a great opportunity to network, as well as see a brand new engineering facility! Registration information is below. Be sure to register in advance!

Hey all!

Important reminder: There will be a general body meeting and technical seminar on March 9th in Armstrong 102. The meeting will start at 1pm with the seminar to follow at 1:30.

The technical seminar is titled "Vibration-based structural health monitoring using mobile sensors", and will be given by TCNJ alumnus and current PhD student at Lehigh, Matthew Horner.

This is a great opportunity to see what is going on with ASCE this semester, learn about some interesting research in the field of structural engineering, and fulfill two 09x requirements. We hope to see you there!
