i met a woman in her 70s a few months ago and she said the greatest and worst thing about being 70 was that people didn’t see her anymore. she said it was great because she wasn’t being harassed like she had once been as a young girl. she could now do whatever she wanted and no one would notice. and that was the worst thing about being 70: she felt invisible.
during the beginning of this crisis when i was freaking out a few people told me “relax— you won’t die if you catch the virus—it only kills old people”. and i was…. speechless. what a self serving thought. i was always told my elders held knowledge and wisdom that should be honoured. that they were a vital part of our world. i’m shocked at how common it is for people to think the elderly are disposable. like people have nothing to offer once they hit a certain age. when in reality everyone is a gift. if we just took the time to get to know them.

...be excessively gentle with yourself 💚

You have traveled too fast over false ground;
Now your soul has come, to take you back.

Take refuge in your senses, open up
To all the small miracles you rushed through.

Become inclined to watch the way of rain
When it falls slow and free.

Imitate the habit of twilight,
Taking time to open the well of color
That fostered the brightness of day.

Draw alongside the silence of stone
Until its calmness can claim you.

Be excessively gentle with yourself.

We have to give ourselves and continually replenish ourselves with what we need to meet this current challenge. If we are okay, our kids will be okay.

How to be the parents our kids need while staying sane ourselves.

10 Ways to Build Immunity Now!
In the midst of the dreaded virus, while others stockpile their toilet paper, pasta, peanut butter and canned beans, we suggest stocking up on your lymphatic system. Should the virus visit you in the near future, you will have given a big boost to your immunity to help minimize its effects. Here is a list of 10 ways to build immunity now:

1.) Sleep deeply at least 8 hours, avoid watching Netflix till 1 AM.

2.) Spend at least an hour, better 2 hours, outdoors.

3.) Get cardio exercise, preferably outdoors. Walk, hike and bike… bike while the streets are empty!

4.) Practice yoga 1-2 hours each day. Light vinyasa. Do twists, shoulder stand, supported backbends, plough pose.

5.) It is Spring equinox! Till the garden soil nourishing plants and trees in preparation for the growing season.

6.) Sit in Big Mind meditation reflecting on how “all that arises ceases” and how the planet and its people have been through thousands of cycles of change.

7.) Prepare your own food. Include anti-viral supplements such as fresh ginger and raw chopped garlic (combined with minced parsley and olive oil).

8.) Take extra doses of Vitamin C.

9.) Read! Read 2x more than you usually do. Read fiction, inspiring true tales and the wisdom teachings. Get your kids to read an hour each day.

10.) Find comic relief time! Whether its Charlie Chaplin or Stephen Colbert or…. better yet stand-up comedy in your kitchen.
