Proud teacher moment! I’ve had many accomplishments in the 11 years that I’ve had CCBB daycare. I’ve had children attend Poe, Lenart, Keller, McDade, Bronzeville, Disney, NTA, and Lasalle just to name a few. This year Teneka Horton-Brooks set a goal for me, all four children will test and all 4 children will have an option to attend a selective enrollment school. I had never had all parents sign on to take the test so for us this was huge. We called them the Fab 4 and they all were offered seats at prominent schools. With the support of our parents we gave them experiences and they didn’t know they were being molded into gifted/classical learners. We wrote business plans with them, stretched imaginations, designed blue prints for our classroom, had debates and so much more. What we did was take the limits off learning and learning styles. One child grew 14 months in 3 months(my most proud accomplishment). This is what we do at CCBB, I can’t is not allowed. This is an honest testimony that children are not born gifted, it’s the experiences, exposure, tapping into learning styles and erasing limitations that shapes a gifted learner. It doesn’t only happen at school but home is a child’s first learning experience. All children are GIFTED, when they are born they are a blank slates, we as adults breath life into them. It’s my responsibility to bring out the best in them but if I have a supportive family base, together the possibilities are endless. Our children will attend Bronzeville, NTA gifted and Morgan Park Academy in Fall 2020. Oh and they also know with God on their side and a daily sprinkle of love and unicorn dust, success is right in front of them.
