Mr. Brian’s athletic experiences began in High School at Northern Bedford County.

Brian Koontz, Director of Athletics at Everett Area Junior/Senior High School, has been named the 2015 Pennsylvania State Athletic Director of the Year. Brian has been a teacher and coach for the Everett Area School District for the last twenty-seven years, and has served as the Director of Athletics for Everett for the last fifteen years. He participated in Football, Basketball and Track/Field. H

e was an all-conference football and basketball player, and was selected to participate in the Big 33 Football game. He attended Slippery Rock University receiving his Bachelor of Science in Health & Physical Education and participated in Football, lettering all four years. At Everett High School, Brian has been the Head Varsity Football Coach, Assistant Varsity and Head Junior High Football Coach, Assistant Varsity Boys Basketball Coach and Assistant Varsity Track & Field Coach. In addition, he served as the Assistant Athletic Director for three years prior to being named Athletic Director. As a coach, Brian was named Bedford Country Coach of the Year, and coached in the Ken Lantzy “Finest Forty” All-Star game four times. He also served as District 5’s representative for the Pennsylvania State Football Coaches Association. In addition to his duties as Director of Athletics, Brian also teaches Middle School and High School Health classes, Middle School Physical Education classes and Driver Education classes. He also is the Transportation Coordinator for the School District. Brian serves as the Secretary and Treasurer for the District 5 Athletic Director’s Association and is the chairman for the sports of Girls and Boys Tennis for District 5. He is also a certified Coaching Education Instructor through Human Kineticsb Everett has hosted numerous District and Inter-District playoff games in the sports of Soccer, Baseball, Softball and Basketball over the years he has been Director of Athletics. He has been a PSADA Delegate for District 5 for thirteen years and is currently the Westernb Junior High representative on the PSADA Executive Council and is the PSADA Financial Manager. Brian and his wife Amy have been married for twenty-nine years, have two children Andrew and Olivia, son-in-law Kevin, and the newest addition to the family, grandson, Jackson. He enjoys traveling with his family and friends as time permits.
