Our singer highlight series continues! This week, we hear from a SCYC member who joined partway through a concert season at the encouragement of their voice teacher. One of the trio of Bella Coro members who restarted that ensemble after the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, this member reflects on their choir experience:
"I joined this choir around two years ago, and it was a very good decision. I have learned many vocal techniques, as well as how to sing well with others (a skill on its own)!"

This singer has been in the SCYC family off and on for almost 10 years! The first picture is this student after a concert in May 2017, and the 2nd from our most recent performance in March 2026 (look for the colorful hair). We asked them to share a bit about their experience in SCYC:
"Being in SCYC has helped me become a stronger parts singer and become more comfortable with complex rhythms. It’s always been a place where I have been able to find good friends and learn how to perform good music. I think it’s fun to work with the younger singers and the Chorale; I really like how it sounds when all the parts come together to perform! I’d definitely recommend joining when you can -- the music selections are always fun, and the people are great."
This student is also pictured: hugging friends at a local youth choir event; in Bella Coro ensemble rehearsing with Everett Chorale; enjoying sun and song with Chorale and SCYC members during Everett's annual Street Tunes; guiding younger students through a summer camp art project; laughing in rehearsal with fellow Bella Coro ensemble members

Our weekly series of SCYC singer highlights continues! This singer is in our youngest ensemble, but has already become one of our more experienced choristers through their dedication to participating in choir events. Here are their thoughts on being in SCYC:
"I love choir because I make a lot of friends. My favorite memory was singing 'Siúil a Rúin' because it was in a different language. Singing songs in a different language makes me feel connected to the world. I like choir because I meet new people and we make beautiful music together."

Conversing and community: Summer camp gives us the chance to connect with other young singers! In this picture, a high school volunteer leads a small group through the "question of the day" at summer camp. We hope your young singer can join us this year!

We're highlighting our SCYC singers! This singer has been taking voice and other music lessons since childhood, but only joined SCYC two years ago. Asked about their experience, they say:
"I have learned so much with this choir and with Mrs. Karin. They have provided me both music and fun!"
