The Rhubarb Crumble for the letter R cooking project was VERY delicious! They learned that rhubarb has huge leaves that are not to be eaten. The children pulled the strings off of the rhubarb, then cut the stalks into small pieces. They added white sugar, cinnamon, a little flour, an egg, and vanilla to the cut up rhubarb and mixed it well. That rhubarb mixture was spread into the pan. The crumb topping was made with oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and butter. That was spread over the rhubarb mixture and baked. Yummy, yummy afternoon snack!

What did we make for the letter Q cooking activity? Quilt Bars! The children used plastic knives to spread strawberry cream cheese on graham crackers. They then made a quilt-like pattern with square cereal - in this case Frosted Mini Wheats, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Team Children's Learning Center - Everett had a great time at the March for Babies event at Woodland Park Zoo! We raised $3458 which will go towards:
-Provide programs like NICU Family Support® for families with a baby in the NICU, and promoting healthy pregnancies with Supportive Pregnancy Care®.
-Deliver prenatal care where it's needed most with March of Dimes Mom & Baby Mobile Health Centers®.
-Fund research and innovation to address the most pressing maternal and infant health challenges.
-Educate healthcare professionals and families with information such as our Low Dose, Big Benefits™ campaign to inform about how low dose aspirin can support cardiovascular health.
-Advocate for legislation that protects all moms, babies, and families.

Thank you Team!

We've had some pretty delicious cooking activities lately! This last one was Orange Bars for the letter O! Very yummy, and they smelled so good! In addition to building their fine motor skills, cooking activities teach math skills! They are counting, measuring, and being introduced to fractions (1/2 cup, etc). They are learning science skills such as chemical reactions, and how heat changes the color and consistency of what your are baking. They are learning how to follow directions from a recipe. All this and a lot of fun and, usually, deliciousness too!

Noodle Salad for the letter N! The children prepared the broccoli, carrots and celery. They cut the broccoli into small pieces, and grated the celery and carrots. They also made a homemade dressing with mustard, apple cider vinegar, honey, yogurt, and cranberries. They tossed everything together with some spaghetti noodles and enjoyed a tasty Noodle Salad for lunch!

Our letter M cooking activity was Magic Fruit and Veggie Muffins. They were delicious! The children grated, measured, and poured the ingredients into the stand mixer. When all the ingredients were incorporated, the children scooped the batter into muffin tins. Teacher baked them, and we ate them for snack the next day! Yummy!

Spring Fling! A huge thank you to Imagine Children's Museum for providing lots of activities for our families to engage in, along with Ishin, one of their educators, for setting it all up! We love having our parents come participate in their children's learning through play! Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, and siblings who attended!

The shirts that the children are wearing are part of our study on clothing. They were dyed using fruits and vegetables, then each child decorated their shirt with fabric markers.
