Elementary Summer Learning was an amazing learning adventure for about 260 Multilingual Learner students! For four weeks, they learned about science, geography, culture, language development, art, and made new friends!

A Multilingual Learner Summer Academy was also held at Voyager Middle School, with great success!

Thank you to the Mukilteo Beacon for covering the story and for the photos!

Never too late to celebrate our staff! 🎉😀

Brad Tonahill, English Teacher at Mariner High School, and second semester Lighthouse Award nominee!

Brad Tonahill is described by nominators as an exceptional educator who “is always willing to go above and beyond for his students” while creating “a positive and welcoming environment for all students to thrive.” Nominators highlight a signature accomplishment of Brad’s is founding the Mariner Writing Center, a widely used resource where students receive one-on-one help from trained peer tutors. The center is highlighted as a “precious resource” that supports both struggling and advanced writers and “would not be possible without Tonahill’s tireless efforts.”

Nominators consistently note his classroom culture of respect and engagement, saying, “whenever I go into his classroom, I always get the sense of respect, learning, and fun,” and that students are “treated with respect and get the help they need.” He is also praised for his energy and presence, with one nominator noting he has “the most positive attitude I have ever encountered,” greeting students by name and making them feel “seen and heard.”

Congratulations, Brad! 😀
