From building English skills and community connections in our 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗳é to training student leaders in our 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺, Public Adult Education of MA empowers waitlisted learners, current students, and alumni to grow as confident advocates and leaders.

Hear what a few of our incredible students from these two programs are doing today:

🎓One of the most meaningful experiences of this year was participating in the Leap Into Law program. I completed an internship at a local District Court, where I gained firsthand exposure to the Massachusetts judicial system and legal procedures. I also had the opportunity to intern at a prestigious law office under the supervision of an attorney, assisting with real cases and supporting the firm's daily legal work. I remain involved with the Leap Into Law program, which is helping connect participants with law firms and legal organizations to begin careers in the legal field. Through these opportunities, I look forward to applying the knowledge and skills I gained during the program while continuing to grow professionally within the Massachusetts legal system.

📓I recently completed my TESOL program and worked as an ESOL intern and Conversation Café facilitator, where I gained valuable experience teaching English to adult learners. I am currently continuing to improve my English skills and exploring new opportunities in education. One highlight I’m proud of is completing my internship and helping students build confidence in speaking English.
-Nawal

🦽I got a CNA State Job at a Veterans Hospital; I am also enrolled at a community college in their prerequisite program for nursing school.
-Jodie

🎩Since my time at ACLS, I have continued building my career while staying engaged in education and community work. I recently started a flexible new job that allows me to pursue freelance opportunities in acting, performance, and education. I also had the opportunity to work on an international event connected to the FIFA World Cup in Boston, where I welcomed and entertained guests in English as part of a hospitality and entertainment team. I continue improving my English and remain committed to lifelong learning while exploring new opportunities in education, the arts, and public engagement.

Today, July 20th, is National Moon Day, marking the anniversary of the 1969 moon landing—an event NASA called “one of the single greatest technological achievement of all time.”

But monumental leaps don't just happen in space. They happen right here in our adult education classrooms every single day.

For an adult learner, walking through our doors to learn a new language, earn a high school credential, or master a new career skill takes immense courage. It might feel like a small step on day one, but it is the start of a giant leap toward a brighter future, a better career, and a completely redefined potential.

It’s never too late to start—but let’s be honest, it’s also never easy.

Returning to school or learning a new language as an adult takes incredible courage. It means stepping out of your comfort zone while balancing a mountain of everyday responsibilities.

If you are currently facing these hurdles, remember:

1️⃣Balancing Act: Managing classes alongside work, family, and life is a masterclass in time management. Every hour you carve out to study is a victory.

2️⃣ The Fear of Mistakes: Learning a new language or a math equation might mean making mistakes. But in adult education, those mistakes aren't failures—they are proof that you are growing.

3️⃣Self-Doubt: Wondering "Can I still do this after all these years?" is completely normal. But your life experience is your greatest strength in the classroom. You are wiser, more resilient, and more focused than ever before.

Your journey might have a few logs in the road, but every step forward is a step toward a brighter career, a stronger community, and a proud achievement. We are with you every single step of the way!

Live to Learn!👏👏👏
