INSTRUCTOR SPOTLIGHT... The Western Washington Sheet Metal JATC is proud to recognize HVAC instructor Phil Howard. Phil’s sheet metal journey began in 1998, working alongside his uncle at a nonunion business installing metal roofs. He quickly discovered a passion for the precision, forming, and installation work that would shape his career.

After 12 years as an architectural sheet metal foreman with John Lupo Construction, Phil joined Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 66 in 2012 and entered the WWSMJATC apprenticeship program. He graduated as a journey-level worker in 2015 and later served as a commercial HVAC fabrication foreman with Delta Tech until joining the WWSM JATC staff in summer 2023.

Today, Phil shares his experience in both HVAC and architectural fabrication and installation.
