I’ve used my Lark almost every day since my daughter was six months old. It’s become essential to my Little Roots rhythm, from loading the car to setting up stations to packing it all back up. It’s there for me all day, every day.

All their prints are beautiful. Sewn in the US, h**p and organic cotton fibers, front and back carry compatible, and works from 10 to 45 pounds.

We celebrated our very first Little Roots birthday. For each birthday, we gather for a Walk Around the Sun, a Montessori tradition where the child circles the sun once for every year of their life while we sing together. They also receive a crown made from our class collaborative art.

The rest of the morning we focused on the clouds. We wrung out sponges at the water table as pretend clouds, painted with wool to get a nice cloud texture on our collaborative art piece, and cut out clouds from cloud dough. The weather was perfect for watching the clouds and talking about what we saw.

We had a lovely morning in the forest thinking about berries.

In the mud kitchen we mashed and cooked berry jam. On the small world tray, the forest animals came out to forage, bears, foxes, raccoons, and deer, with felt berries to pick and feed them. Over at the art station, all the reds and blues got layered into something new.

This was just a peek at the morning. There was so much more to explore.

We worked with a red and blue palette today, and every place the two colors met, we got purple.

The oobleck was the star. Droppers of red and blue to swirl on top, and the magic of watching a toddler realize it is somehow a liquid and a solid at the same time.

There was so much more to explore, the mud kitchen, the small world tray, berry art. This was just one favorite from the morning.

We spent the morning celebrating the beginning of summer. The sun stayed tucked behind the clouds, so we made our own warmth with reds, oranges, and yellows at every station.

This is a real Thursday at McCollum Park in Everett. Toddlers and their grown-ups exploring whatever catches their eye.

One child spent almost the whole morning at the water table this week, gathering petals and moving them from the water to a tiny vase to a watering can and back, over and over. That's what I'm hoping for when I plan a station.

The mud kitchen turned into a bakery, with the kids sifting coco coir like flour and calling lavender their powdered sugar. We also added another layer to what will become our summer class crown. We have been building it together a little more each week.

Four toddlers crowded around one ant this week. They saw it moving across the dirt and got down low to watch. Stopping to look, wondering about something small. That is what I hope sticks with them, the habit of noticing and a love of learning.

This week was all about bugs. We climbed the big tree, painted boxes, and made mud pies. We spread paint onto paper, folded, and opened it up to find butterflies. Pip, our class chickadee, even met a squirrel.

Our mud kitchen sits on a stand donated by Learning Through PLAYtrays. Thank you so much for it, it has quickly become a favorite of the kids’ mornings.

Our very first session of Little Roots and it poured. It felt like a glimpse into our future right from the start. Some of our best mornings are going to be wet ones.

The kids were so happy we had puddles to jump in. They spun paint in the salad spinner. Color soup got stirred in bowls. Blue swirled into pink. Little hands squished playdough under the trees.

The kids showed up as strangers this morning. They left as new friends.

Watching this dream come to life with little ones leading the way is something I will never forget.

We have 3 spots left for our founding families, and the registration fee is waived through the end of June.
