š§” In Solidarity with Cabrera Farm š§”
Another farm was attacked this weekānot far from Black Seed Farms. Our hearts are with Cabrera Farm, whose vehicles and essential gear were stolen or destroyed in a break-in on 11/24.
For us, farming is not just workāit is our sanctuary, our ministry, and our way of feeding the community with dignity and care. When harm is done to that, it cuts deep. Itās not only the loss of tools or trucks, itās the violation of a sacred trust. Trauma resurfaces when the spaces we build for healing and nourishment are targeted.
We are currently on sabbatical, taking time to heal and restore. And yet, moments like this remind us how fragile our food systems are. Funding for farms has already been cut, while the need for food grows. Attacks like this make it even harder for farmers to keep showing up for their communities.
Standing in solidarity mattersābut so does actual support. Please consider helping Cabrera Farm rebuild: https://gofund.me/e1ba7e78d
Together, we affirm that farming is sanctuary, feeding our communities is ministry, and collective care is our resilience.

Support Country of Origin Labeling: Stand Up for Local Ranchers, Not Imports
TAKE ACTION: Tell Congress To Stand up for Local Ranchers, Not Imports!
https://advocacy.organicconsumers.org/page/90050/action/1
BUY AMERICAN GRASSFED: Donāt be fooled! Until next year, meat can be voluntarily labeled āProduct of the U.S.A.ā even if itās only slaughtered or processed here. Only buy American Grassfed Association certified:
https://www.americangrassfed.org/aga.../producer-members/
Since 2017, the U.S. has lost over 17 percent of its cattle ranchesāmore than 150,000 farms. The cattle herd has shrunk to its smallest size since 1951.
This shouldnāt be happening. Over the last decade, consumer demand for beef is up 9 percent. The U.S. herd should be growing to meet it.
Instead, imports are growing.
U.S. cattle ranchers rely on us to vote with our wallets and buy American beef. To support that, U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman, R-Wyoming, has introduced the Country of Origin Labeling Enforcement Act.
The best part of the bill is that it expressly overrides international trade agreements. This is important, because the last time the U.S. government implemented mandatory country-of-origin meat labels, Canada and Mexico used the World Trade Organization to strike them down.
Itās about time Congress stood up to anti-democratic usurpations of national sovereignty!

If you know me, you know this book has been part of my annual gift ritual. The Old Farmerās Almanac wasnāt just a publicationāit was a pulse. A whisper from the soil. A guide from the stars.
Since 1818, itās helped generations plant, harvest, and live in rhythm with the Earth. But the 2026 edition will be its last. After 208 years, the Almanac is saying goodbye blavity.com.
š Iām grieving this loss deeply. It was a bridge between ancestral wisdom and modern life. A reminder that nature is not a trendāitās our teacher.
Editor Sandi Duncan said it best: āThe wisdom of generations past is the key to the generations of the future.ā blavity.com
So now, we carry the torch.
š± Itās time to feed ourselves so we can free ourselves.
Grow your own. Learn your land. Share your harvest. The Almanac may be ending, but its spirit lives in every seed we plant and every truth we reclaim.

Iām also noticing how easy it is to feel numb in the face of so much.
But I donāt want to get comfortable with numbness.
I want to feel it all.
I want to heal it all.
I want to stay awake.
